A method for producing a motor vehicle component with at least two regions of different strengths and a protective layer, consisting of the following process steps: &#x2014;providing precoated blanks made of a steel alloy, which can be hardened, &#x2014;homogeneously heating to a heating temperature, which is at least greater than or equal to the AC1 temperature, preferably greater than or equal to the AC3 temperature, &#x2014;holding the heating temperature, so that the precoating alloys with the blank, &#x2014;homogeneously intercooling the alloyed blank to an intercooling temperature between 450 deg. C. and 700 deg. C., partially heating the blank from the intercooling temperature to at least the AC3 temperature in regions of the first type and holding regions of the second type at substantially intercooling temperature, &#x2014;hot forming and press hardening the partially tempered blank so as to form the motor vehicle component, wherein a tensile strength of greater than 1400 MPa is produced in regions of the first type, a tensile strength of less than 1050 MPa is produced in regions of the second type, and a transition region is produced between said regions.

The present disclosure relates to a connecting sleeve arrangement for connecting a first tubular cross member to a second tubular cross member of an instrument panel support in a vehicle, including: a first receptacle opening configured to receive the first tubular cross member extending in a first cross member direction, and a second receptacle opening facing away from the first receptacle opening configured to receive the second tubular cross member extending in a second cross member direction, wherein the connecting sleeve arrangement is curved, wherein the second receptacle opening is transversely offset, relative to the first receptacle opening, from the first cross member direction, and wherein the connecting sleeve arrangement is formed from a first half shell and a second half shell that are integrally bonded to one another.

Connecting sleeve arrangement for connecting tubular cross members in a vehicle

A device and method for tempering sections of hot-formed and/or press-hardened metal components is disclosed having a support structure and a work head, the work head having at least one contact element consisting of an electrically-conductive material, for heating sections of a metal component using a flow of heat. Electrodes for resistively heating the contact element are connected thereto, and to a current source. A hot-formed and/or press-hardened metal component is first provided, and at least one contact element mounted on a work head is heated to a temperature greater than a target temperature to which a section of the metal component is to be heated. A contact surface of said contact element then comes into full-surface contact with the metal component section to be heated, with a predetermined pressing force, such that the metal component is heated to a target temperature in at least some sections by a flow of heat. The contact element is thus heated using resistive heating.
