An airbag of a vehicle occupant restraint system has an actively releasable tether element () disposed in an interior () of the airbag () which is connected, at an airbag-side fixation (), permanently to the airbag () in the region of a contact zone () for the occupant, and which comprises a detachable fixing point () for the release. The airbag () can take up a smaller first filled volume (V) in which the tether element () and the detachable fixing point () are not released, and a larger second filled volume (V) in which the tether element () is released at the actively detachable fixing point (). In addition to the tether element (), a tether element restrainer () disposed in the interior () of the airbag () is provided which acts upon a point of action () on a vehicle-side portion () of the tether element () distant from the airbag-side permanent fixation () of the tether element () and which is permanently fixed to a coupling point () distant from the contact zone () so that the vehicle-side portion () of the released tether element () remains connected fixedly to the vehicle via the tether element restrainer ().

An airbag, in particular a front airbag, includes an outer wall having a front wall and a rear wall () and a tether () as well as an electrically actuatable activation unit () for releasing the tether (). The tether () includes plural tether portions () connected to each other via a first tear seam (). A tension means () is coupled to the tether () so that it destroys the first tear seam () when the activation unit () is actuated.

Airbag

A folding table device () for a vehicle seat comprises a table top (), an articulated arm (), an articulation (), an airbag () as well as an inflator () connected to the airbag () by means of which the airbag () is inflatable. The table top () can be adjusted via the articulation () including the articulated arm () about a pivot axis (S) from a rest position into a use position and from the use position into the rest position. Further, the airbag () and the inflator () are attached to the table top (). Accordingly, the distance (a) of the center of gravity () of the inflator () from the pivot axis (S) is smaller than the distance (A) of the center of gravity () of the folded airbag () from the pivot axis (S). In addition, there is provided a vehicle comprising a vehicle seat and a folding table device () of this type.

An airbag, in particular a front airbag, includes an outer wall having a front wall and a rear wall () and a tether () as well as an electrically actuatable activation unit () for releasing the tether (). The tether () includes plural tether portions () connected to each other via a first tear seam (). A tension means () is coupled to the tether () so that it destroys the first tear seam () when the activation unit () is not actuated.

A frontal airbag for vehicle occupants comprises a contact panel () facing the vehicle occupant in the inflated state. Inside the airbag tension means (') which restrain portions of the contact panel () in the inflated state of the frontal airbag () are arranged on the contact panel () so that, in the mounted and inflated state, the contact panel () forms plural indentations () extending vertically from the view of the associated occupant. The frontal airbag () optionally may take a first completely inflated state and a second completely inflated state with a larger airbag volume than in the first state, wherein a release device () is assigned to at least several of the tension means (&#x2032;) and, when the release device is not activated, the frontal airbag () only reaches the first state and, when the release device () is activated, the contact panel () bulges in the area of the released tension means (&#x2032;) further toward the occupant so as to enable the second state.

Frontal airbag

An apparatus () for helping to protect an occupant () of a vehicle () having a seat (or) for receiving the occupant () includes an inflatable protection device () inflatable from a stored condition in the vehicle () adjacent a reaction surface () to a deployed condition between the reaction surface and the vehicle occupant (). The protection device () includes a front portion () presented toward the seat () and an inflatable volume for receiving a penetrating occupant (') when the protection device () is in the deployed condition. A rear portion () connected to the front portion () has an inflatable volume spaced from the front portion () by a space (). The front portion () is positioned between the vehicle occupant () and the rear portion () when the protection device () is in the deployed condition. The inflated front portion () is movable in a fore-aft direction relative to the rear portion () to engage the occupant () regardless of the distance between the reaction surface () and the occupant ().

Self-conforming rearseat air bag

The invention relates to an inflator holder () for an airbag module () comprising a holder bottom part () in which an inflator receiving hole () is formed and comprising a holder sidewall part () which delimits, together with the holder bottom part (), a receiving compartment () for an inflator () open on a discharge side () opposed to the holder bottom part (). The inflator holder () includes a filter grid () for exhausting gas fastened on the inflator holder () which filter grid at least partially delimits the receiving compartment () on the discharge side (). In addition, the invention relates to an airbag module () comprising an airbag (), an inflator () and said inflator holder ().
