A method comprises obtaining () media content and information about the media content and selecting () a color extraction method from multiple color extraction methods based on the obtained information. The media content comprises video content and the color extraction methods differ from each other in that they extract different colors from the same pixels. The method further comprises extracting () a color from one or more frames of the video content by applying the selected color extraction method and determining () one or more light effects to be rendered on one more light sources while the one or more frames are being rendered. The one or more light effects are determined based on the extracted color. The method also comprises storing () a light script specifying the one or more light effects and/or controlling () the one or more light sources to render the one or more light effects.

Selecting a method for extracting a color for a light effect from video content

A method () of controlling a plurality of lighting units () of a lighting system () is disclosed. A method of determining light effects based on analysis of media content comprises allowing () a user to influence a video weight and an audio weight. The video weight represents a weight of video content in the determination of the light effects and the audio weight represents a weight of audio content in the determination. The method further comprises obtaining () information relating to the video content and/or information relating to the audio content, determining () the light effects to be rendered while the media content is being rendered. The method also comprises storing a light script specifying the light effects and/or controlling () one or more light sources to render the light effects. The light effects are determined based on the information relating to the video content in dependence on the video weight and based on the information relating to the audio content in dependence on the audio weight.

Method and system for creating a light script for a video

A method of controlling a connected lighting system based on audio-visual content. The method comprises automatically performing operations of: color extraction from an image comprised in video component of the audio-visual content, calculating an audio intensity level of an audio sample of the audio component of the audio-visual content, determining of a first target light color and a first audio intensity level based on the extracted color and the calculated audio intensity level; and controlling at least one lighting device according to the determined first target light color and the first audio intensity level. This method provides for control in a manner which increases immersion of a user experiencing the audio-visual content as being rendered by, for example a TV, through providing light effects by a connected lighting system.
