An agitator paddle rotor for mash kettles in brewing, the rotor being rotatingly arranged above the bottom of the mash kettle, comprising at least two radially extending agitator paddles of which each comprises at least one obliquely oriented paddle section. To obtain an effective thorough mixing, at least one paddle section has a front paddle portion which is the front one in rotational direction and which substantially ends in parallel with the bottom of the mash kettle, an upwardly oriented central paddle portion, and a rear paddle portion which is the rear one in rotational direction and is substantially oriented in parallel with the bottom of the mash kettle.

The present invention relates to an aerating nozzle for aerating liquids containing organic substances. To keep the foam formation in organic substances to be aerated within a controlled limits, the present invention suggests that the angles of inclination of the side walls defining the liquid channel should nowhere be greater than 30.degree. relative to the longitudinal axis of the aerating nozzle which extends in the direction of flow, with the distribution bushing whose liquid channel is of a straight configuration being arranged such that is can be replaced by distribution bushings which differ in number and/or size of the gas entry openings.

The invention relates to a horizontal filter with a filter housing, in which an arrangement of superimposed, spaced filter elements is contained, and with distributor means supplying liquid to be filtered to the filter arrangement in a main direction of flow from below to the top, from which supply lines for the supply of liquid to be filtered branch off to the individual filter elements. A horizontal filter with a higher throughput is provided by the invention, since it is provided that the distributor means comprises distributor lines guided between the wall of the filter housing and the filter arrangement and supply lines in each case distributed across the circumference of the individual filter elements and branching off from the distributor lines, and that the supply lines are in each case provided with a flow reduction chamber, which has at least one communication opening to a distributor line and at least one outlet opening for the discharge of liquid to be filtered above the allocated filter element.

The invention relates to a ventilation nozzle for fluids. In order to enable a simple cleaning and an inexpensive manufacture, the fluid channel in the ventilation nozzle is formed of two telescopically assembled tube sections. The two tube sections are connected to each other by radially outwardly protruding flanges and by fixing screws which are distributed along their circumference, with the flange of the tube section sealing the annular channel to the environment being mounted to its frontal end.

An apparatus for emptying sacks filled with bulk material comprising a feeder which transports filled sacks within the apparatus; a circular knife located such that, when the filled bag passes through the feeder, the circular knife cuts the bottom and sides of the bag; a receiving hopper for the bulk material; and an emptying assembly. The emptying assembly is comprised of two swivel plates which swing upwards and towards each other and an upright abutment plate which separately supports each side of the sack. In operation, the circular knife cuts the sack and the feeder loads the cut sack onto the swivel plates which swivel upward forcing the sack into contact with the abutment plate. Gravity forces the material from the sack into the receivimg hopper.

Apparatus for supplying material to a wet-crushing mill comprises a storage container for the material, and a rotary feeder arranged below the storage container and forming a bottom closure for the container. At least one device above the rotary feeder is provided for delivering steeping water to the material, and at least one device for removing steeping water from the material comprises a sieve fixedly arranged below the rotary feeder adjacent to the periphery of the feeder. An after-steeping vessel is arranged below the feeder to receive material therefrom.

Apparatus for the production of mash comprising a walled housing having at its lower end a walled chamber for the reception of brewing malt and water. Wet malt is introduced to the chamber via crushing rollers and water is introduced to the chamber over substantially its entire periphery by means of guides which deliver the water in a coherent film onto the surface of mash in the chamber.

An intermediate base is substantially concentric with and is smaller in diameter than the sieve base, and is disposed between the sieve base and the discharge base and acts as an accumulator and guide element for the wort.
