A bag in box packaging comprising an outer box, an inner bag and a locating panel. The outer box has a bottom wall and a dispensing wall with an opening. The inner bag includes a spout with a tap. The locating panel includes is coupled to the inner bag, the spout or the tap, with a dispensing opening of the tap on one side of the locating panel and the bag on the other side of The inner bag is placed within the box so that the central region is positioned at an angle relative to each of the bottom and dispensing walls. The front surface of the upper region overlies an inner surface of the dispensing wall. The front surface of the lower region overlies an inner surface of the bottom wall.

A bag in box packaging comprising an outer box, an inner bag and a tray member. The outer box includes an opening at the lower end of the front wall and onto the bottom wall. A pair of opposing slits extend along the lower edge on opposing sides of the opening thereat. The spout and/or the tap extend through an opening in the base so that the tap and the inner bag are on opposite sides of the base. A pair of opposing channels are defined between the respective flange and the dispensing wall interfacing surface of the tray. The tray member can be slid into position by extending the front wall between the respective flange and the dispensing wall interfacing surface and into the respective opposing channels defined thereby, to, in turn, secure the tray to the outer box.

A tap articulating assembly includes a tap wall and at least two spaced apart hinge assemblies. The tap wall has an opening to receive the tap. The hinge assemblies each have a first hinge panel and a second hinge panel. Each first and second hinge panel are joined to each other at an intermediate hinge fold, with the first hinge panel joined to the tap wall at a fold and the front wall or a respective side wall at a fold. The hinge assembly provides for a shipping orientation wherein the tap wall is recessed to substantially retain the tap within a footprint of the outer box to an dispensing orientation wherein the tap extends beyond the footprint.

A flexible bag container () is filled by a system () and method for filling the bag container (). The flexible bag container () has a pair of walls () and a spout member () attached to one side wall of the container. This spout member is opened and closed in the filling system. A plug member () is inserted into the spout member () from outside of the bag container () and is withdrawable in the opposite direction in order to open the bag container. The bag container is filled via the spout member after removal of the plug member outwardly of the bag container and into a filling head, and then the plug member is replaced from within the filling head into the spout member to close the bag container.

The lid is a planar structure having a first face and a second face. A filler device sub-assembly having a manipulator for manipulating a cap of a container comprising a first and second cap gripper arm and a member for controllably manipulating the cap gripper arms. The controllable manipulating member comprising an inner cam assembly, an outer cam assembly and a follower. The outer cam assembly extends at least partially about the inner cam assembly. One of the inner and outer cam assemblies coupled to the first and second cap gripper arms. The follower is associated with the inner cam assembly and the outer cam assembly. Movement of the lifter shaft imparts movement of the follower and relative movement of the inner cam assembly and the outer cam assembly, to in turn, longitudinally and rotatably move the cap gripper arms from a first position proximate to a container to a second position distally spaced from a container.

A container assembly apparatus associatable with a filler device. The container assembly apparatus being capable of positioning an inner flexible container filled by a filler device into an outer container. The container assembly apparatus comprises a transfer device and an outer container drive system. The transfer device comprises a conveyor including a first region and a second region. The first region is associatable with a filler device and the second region is positioned in an orientation which is substantially oblique to the first region. The outer container drive system is capable of positioning an outer container proximate an end of the second region of the conveyor of the transfer device.

Apparatus and method for assembling filled bag in box containers

A fill valve assembly for use in association with a filler device comprising an outer housing, a product dispensing member, a displaceable piston and a seal member. The product dispensing member is associated with the outer housing. The displaceable piston is displaceably positioned within the outer housing. The seal member is fixedly associated with the displaceable piston at one end thereof, and at least one of the outer housing and the product dispensing member, at another end thereof. The seal member is capable of maintaining fixed association throughout displacement of the displaceable piston, such that isolation of outer housing and the product dispensing member can be maintained without the use of seals having slidable engagement.

Fill valve assembly for filler device

A standup bags made of a flexible material and methods of producing these standup bags. In particular, the standup bags have at least one substantially flat surface which is free of seams and folds. When the bag is filled with a flowable substance, the pressure exerted by the fluid upon the flat surfaces allows the bag to be self-standing. Additionally, the standup includes at least one contour structure that defines the geometry of the bag and also contributes to the standup bag's ability to be self-standing when even partially filled with a flowable substance.

A filler device sub-assembly comprising: a first cap gripping arm and a second cap gripping arm, wherein each of the first and second cap gripping arms include a second end, and wherein the second ends of the first and second cap gripping arms cooperatively define a cap retaining region; a pivot opening associated with each of the first and second cap gripping arms, wherein the first and second cap gripping arms are pivotable about the pivot opening; and means for guiding a cap into the cap retaining region, wherein the cap guiding means facilitates outward pivoting of at least one of the first and second cap gripping arms by a cap which results in directing a cap into the retaining region toward retention thereof.

Flexible bag

A fill valve assembly for use in association with a filler device. The fill valve assembly generally includes: an outer housing; a product dispensing member; a displaceable piston; and mechanisms for controllably displacing the piston to a clean-in-place position. The product dispensing member is associated with the outer housing and includes a channel having a sealing member retained therein. The displaceable piston is positioned within at least a portion of the outer housing and the product dispensing member. When the piston is in the clean-in-place position, the seal member retained within the channel of the product dispensing member is exposed which facilitates cleaning thereabout.
