Described herein are technologies relating to assigning wireless beacons to positions within a building, wherein the wireless beacons are included in an indoor positioning system. A computer-implemented floorplan representation is generated, wherein the representation includes a layout of the building and materials of structures of the building. Coverages of wireless beacons are simulated, and multiple objectives are balanced to identify a number of wireless beacons to deploy in the building and positions in the building where the wireless beacons are to be deployed.

A computerized mapping system is provided, including a map server configured to, in a map serving phase, receive a request from a client device to view a portion of a map at least partially including a building for which an indoor map is available, at a requested level of detail that is outside a range for displaying the indoor map, and transmit a target tile with a prerendered bitmap image for the building, and a client-side renderable geometric element with a perimeter and a client-side renderable visual feature of the internal map feature of the indoor map selected according to a selection criterion set by an authorized user of the indoor map, to the client device for display.

A server system is provided that includes a platform server system configured to store platform map data that is geospatially referenced and includes building outline data for one or more buildings, and provide the platform map data to client computer devices. The server system further includes a tenant bounded server system including one or more processors configured to store building floorplan data for a tenant entity, and provide building floorplan data to client computer devices that are authenticated for the tenant entity. The one or more processors of the tenant bounded server system are further configured to receive a set of building floorplan data for a target building included in the platform map data, determine geospatial reference data for the set of building floorplan data by aligning the set of building floorplan data with building outline data of the target building.
