A tool for suspending in a well retrieves various metal debris from the well, and includes an elongated tool body with a plurality of magnets included in a plurality longitudinal ridges which are circumferentially spaced. In the method a plurality of magnets can be positioned within openings, recesses, or pockets in each ridge, and held in place by one or more retaining plates, the tool being connected to a drill string and lowered into a well.

A drill pipe mountable wellbore cleaning tool apparatus is of an improved configuration that enables attachment to a drill pipe joint having first and second connector end portions and a cylindrically shaped portion in between the connector end portions. The drill pipe joint with attached debris cleaning tool or tools is made part of a drill string. The apparatus includes a support sleeve that is mounted to the drill pipe joint in between the connector end portions. The support sleeve abuts but does not invade the integrity of the cylindrical portion. Centralizers are attached to the opposing ends of the support sleeve, with each centralizer overlapping a portion of the support sleeve. The support sleeve carries one or more debris cleaning tools in between the centralizers. These tools enable debris to be removed from a wellbore.

Drill string mountable wellbore cleanup apparatus and method

A drill pipe mountable wellbore cleaning tool apparatus that enables attachment to a drill pipe joint having first and second connector end portions and a cylindrically shaped portion in between the connector end portions The apparatus includes a support sleeve that is mounted to the drill pipe joint in between the connector end portions. Centralizers are attached to the opposing ends of the support sleeve, with each centralizer overlapping a portion of the support sleeve. At least one locking clamp is attached to the cylindrical portion next to a said centralizer. The locking clamp prevents the support sleeve from moving longitudinally along the drill pipe joint.

A packer for anchoring and sealing to a tubular in a well, the packer including a packer element, an anchoring arrangement, a setting mechanism and a release mechanism. The release mechanism holds a thin-walled section of tubing in the packer in tension using a biasing mechanism. On severing the tubing, the bias releases an engagement mechanism which allows the anchor arrangement and the packing element to move relative to the body and thereby unset the packer. An embodiment of a dual bore packer is described. A method of well isolation is described, with an assembly including the dual bore packer. The primary bore forms the short string and a secondary bore forms the long string. By severing the short string the integrity of the long string is maintained to pull lower devices on the long string and the short string does not require tension below the packer to release.

Each helical path () extends substantially end to end of the tubular body and the helical paths () are distributed relative to each other to define a cleaning surface of at least 360 degrees.

A wellbore cleaning system provides a relockable shearing swivel tool that can be used in tandem with a lockable weight set circulation tool. Suspended from an upper drill string is an assembly consisting of a landing sub, the lockable weight set circulation tool and relockable shearing swivel tool are located immediately above a liner top and from which is suspended a lower drills string. The lower drill string and production liner are both significantly smaller in diameter than the upper drill string and production casing such than when fluid is pumped at high rates through the entire drill string and reduced cross sectional area of the lower drills string and production liner causes a large pressure drop characterized at surface by a high pump pressure. As part of the method, an operator makes up a drill string assembly that includes an upper drill string, a lower drill string, a landing sub or device, the lockable weight set circulation tool, and the relockable shearing swivel tool. This drill string assembly is lowered into a wellbore until the landing sub is close to a liner top or other shoulder in the wellbore. The drill string is rotated and reciprocated, pumping cleaning chemicals through the entire drill string and through the production liner. The liner top is engaged with the landing sub to open a circulation path from the upper drill string to an upper annulus. The drill string is rotated and reciprocated while pumping cleaning chemicals through the upper annulus to clean the production casing.

The present invention provides wellbore cleaning tool and method featuring a wiper assembly which allows fluid to bypass the tool in one direction while diverting the well fluid through a filter screen in another direction. This may be achieved by either circulation of the fluid in the wellbore or by moving the tool relative to the fluid in the wellbore. The wiper assembly includes multiple groups or series of wiper elements wherein one petal shaped element aligns with a slot to form a seal when the tool body is retrieved from the well.
