A lighting device, comprising a power setting unit for setting an electrical power of a light source electrically coupled to the power setting unit, a programmable control unit connected to the power setting unit for controlling the power setting unit, a light control interface unit connected to the control unit for supplying a control signal, and a housing made of an electrically insulating material, which provides a power connection for connecting to an electrical power supply network. The housing encloses at least the power setting unit and the control unit so that they are protected. The control signal is predefinable via the light control interface from outside the housing. The control unit provides a programming interface having at least two contact surfaces for electrically contacting the programming interface and an isolation unit for the programming interface and the housing has a passage opening in a housing wall for each contact.

Lighting device

An electrode () for a high-pressure discharge lamp, having an electrode head () and an electrode rod (), connected to electrode head () and defines a longitudinal axis (L). The electrode head () comprises a main section () on the same side as the electrode rod (), an intermediate section () and an end section () on the opposite side from the electrode rod (). The end surface of the end section () of the electrode head () is formed at least approximately semicircularly, and at least one subsection of the intermediate section () is cylindrically shaped. The extent (D) of the cylindrical subsection of the intermediate section () in at least one direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis is greater than the diameter (D) of the semicircular end surface of the end section (), but less than the largest transverse extent (D) of the main section.

A high-pressure discharge lamp with a starting aid, may include a discharge vessel, wherein the discharge vessel has two ends with seals, in which electrodes are fastened, wherein the starting aid is fitted on the outside of the discharge vessel, wherein the starting aid has a local field amplifier having a configuration with at least one tip or edge or structure with a small radius of curvature, and wherein the starting aid produces a corona discharge which emits UV radiation into the discharge vessel.

An electrode structure configured to operate in a discharge lamp and a method to make such an electrode structure are described. The electrode structure includes an electrode head portion comprising a plurality of raised features arranged in a configuration such that an average pitch of the plurality of raised features is at least 105%. The method includes providing an electrode configured to operate in the discharge lamp and forming raised features on an electrode head portion of the electrode at an average pitch of at least 105%.

The invention relates to a method for operating a gas discharge lamp, in which the shape of at least one electrode of the gas discharge lamp is changed, in which by changing the lamp current for a predeterminable duration, at least one current pulse is generated such that structures which have grown on the at least one electrode are at least partially removed, the current pulse being generated for the duration of at least one entire half cycle of the AC voltage or the alternating current if the gas discharge lamp is fed AC voltage or alternating current, and the current pulse being generated with a pulse duration of between approximately 0.1 s and approximately 5 s if the gas discharge lamp is fed DC voltage or direct current.

The invention relates to a novel operating method and corresponding ballast for illuminating systems having temporally sequential color filtering and a high-pressure discharge lamp operated by alternating current. In this case, at least three commutations of the lamp current are used within a color filtering sequence, in order to be able to operate the lamp advantageously without an excessive increase in the operating frequency of the color filter system.

A circuit arrangement for operating a high-pressure discharge lamp () with an electronic ballast, which is designed to provide an AC feed signal for the high-pressure discharge lamp (). The AC feed signal comprises, in the time range as modulation period (T), a serial sequence of at least one first signal section (Sa), one second signal section (Sa) and one third signal section (Sa), which are associated with a first, a second and a third color. The AC feed signal is an amplitude-modulated RF signal (I) with a frequency (f) of at least 500 kHz. The following applies for the envelope (E) of the signal components with a positive and/or negative amplitude: the absolute value of the envelope (E) has a mean amplitude (M); and the first signal section (Sa) and/or the second signal section (Sa) and/or the third signal section (Sa) has/have at least one temporal range in which the absolute value of the envelope (E) is between 5% and 100% greater than the mean amplitude and/or in which the absolute value of the envelope (E) is between 5% and 90% less than the mean amplitude (M).

Circuit arrangement and method for operating a high-pressure discharge lamp

The present invention relates to a driver circuit for an HID lamp having a circuit arrangement for applying a radiofrequency signal for the purpose of starting the lamp and for applying a low-frequency signal for the purpose of operating the lamp after starting, the driver circuit being designed to drive the HID lamp, immediately after starting, using a radiofrequency signal for a period of time, the period of time being variable and depending on at least one operating parameter for the lamp which is set after starting. It also relates to a corresponding method for operating an HID lamp.
