A non-transitory processor-readable medium storing code representing instructions to be executed by a processor can cause the processor to receive an indication to load balance a group of sessions associated with a network node and a switch across a group of links between a gateway device and the switch at a first time. The code causes the processor to calculate at a second time, a load based on the group of sessions and associated with a first set of links in an active configuration before the first time. The code causes the processor to send a signal to cause a set of sessions from the group of sessions to re-establish themselves at a third time based on a threshold value calculated based on the load such that the set of sessions are load balanced across a second set of links in the active configuration at the third time.

Methods and apparatus for efficient use of link aggregation groups

In one embodiment, an apparatus can include a switch fabric. The apparatus can also include a first edge device operatively coupled to an edge of the switch fabric and having a plurality of ports. The apparatus can also include a second edge device operatively coupled to the edge of the switch fabric and having a plurality of ports, the switch fabric defining a plurality of single-hop paths between the first edge device and the second edge device. The first edge device configured to send to a peripheral processing device operatively coupled to the first edge device a representation of a mapping of a portion of the plurality of ports of the first edge device and a portion of the plurality of ports of the second edge device to a plurality of ports included in a non-edge device represented within a virtual multi-hop network topology.

Methods and apparatus related to a virtual multi-hop network topology emulated within a data center

A switch device is configured to receive a data unit from a virtual port from a first set of virtual ports. The switch device is configured to associate an identifier of each virtual port from the first set of virtual ports with an identifier of a first access group that is associated with an access set. The switch device is configured to prohibit the data unit from being sent to a remaining virtual port from the first set of virtual ports if the data unit is addressed to that virtual port. The switch device is configured to otherwise allow the data unit to be sent to a virtual port from a second set of virtual ports associated with a second access group when the second access group is associated with the access set. The second set of virtual ports is mutually exclusive from the first set of virtual ports.

Methods and apparatus for implementing access control at a network switch

In one embodiment, an apparatus includes an intake buffer module and a flow control module configured to define an available bits indicator, the available bits indicator representing a number of unallocated bits within the intake buffer module. The apparatus further includes a transceiver module configured to transmit, to a peripheral device, a credit update frame based at least in part on the available bits indicator. The transceiver module can be configured to receive a Fiber Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) frame from the peripheral device, a size of the FCoE frame being less than or equal to the number of unallocated bits. The apparatus can further include a switch fabric interface module operatively coupled to a plurality of switch fabric devices that define at least a portion of a switch fabric. The switch fabric interface module can be configured to define at least one cell based at least in part on the FCoE frame and further configured to transmit the at least one cell to at least one switch fabric device from the plurality of switch fabric devices.
