The present invention is directed to a nerve regeneration conduit including a resorbable tube having a matrix therein. The matrix is characterized by substantially parallel, axially aligned pores extending the length of the matrix. The matrix is formed by the axial freezing of a slurry having little or no significant radial thermal gradient during the freezing process. The matrix is used to bridge the gap between the severed ends of a nerve and provide a scaffold for nerve regeneration.

Devices and methods for nerve regeneration

A nerve regeneration device comprising a bioresorbable conduit and a matrix contained therein having elongate pores aligned with the longitudinal axis of the conduit. The matrix comprises collagen, fibronectin, laminin-1, and laminin-2, wherein the amount, by weight, of laminin-1 or laminin-2 is greater than the amount of fibronectin in the matrix.

A matrix for tissue growth includes: (a) a first layer including a first assembly of collagen fibers; (b) a plurality of projections on a top surface of the first layer; and (c) a second layer bonded to a bottom portion of the first layer and including a second assembly of collagen fibers, wherein the second layer has a lower density than the first layer, and the matrix includes pores effective to support cell growth into the matrix. A method for providing the matrix is also described.

Suturable dural and meningeal repair product comprising collagen matrix

Dural substitutes are provided, which include collagen treated and/or prepared to be physiologically compatible and substantially free of active viruses and prions. Suitable forms for the dural substitutes include a sponge, a film, a non-woven matrix, a felt or a combination of at least two of the foregoing forms. Also provided are a method for preparing dural substitutes and a method for promoting meningeal tissue growth.
