A sensor () includes a plurality of modules (). Each module performs a task. A process for determining the total pitch deviation of a position sensor fitted with a magnetic disk and a magnetic detector, the magnetic disk comprising pairs of magnetic poles, the process includes recording, over one mechanical turn, an angular signal of the magnetic intensity measured by the magnetic detector as a function of the angle of rotation of the magnetic disk, determining zero-crossing positions based on the angular signal recorded and the number of zero-crossing position determined, determining the pole pair lengths based on the zero-crossing positions, and determining the total pitch deviation based on the pole pair lengths.

A lean signal processing method, a bearing monitoring unit and a wheel monitoring unit using the lean signal processing method are presented that are especially suitable for embedded systems. The invention is based on the basic inventive idea of digitally adjusting measured signals that are to be analyzed in different frequency bands to thereby enable to have a single common analogue front end and a single common digital spectrum analyzer back end. This will save analogue components and relax the need for memory in addition to a lean signal processing.

A sensor module configured to detect a vibration of a mechanical component includes a base connectable to the mechanical component, at least one spacer extending from the base, and a circuit board connected to the base by the spacer such that a mechanical vibration is transmitted from the component to the base to the spacer to the circuit board. The circuit board includes a circuit and wirelessly transmits signals indicative of a detected vibration. The spacer includes a body portion and a pin portion projecting from an end of the body portion. The pin portion extends into the at least one hole, and the body portion is blocked from passing though the at least one hole by contact with a region of a first side of the circuit board surrounding the at least one hole.
