A mixture curable to provide an intumescent coating material. The mixture comprises a silane-terminated polymer, a cross-linker for curing the silane-terminated polymer, an epoxy resin, a cross-linker for curing the epoxy resin, and an intumescent package.

Mixture curable to provide an intumescent coating material

A silicone tie coat for bonding thermal insulation material to a substrate useable subsea. The silicone tie coat is the reaction product of a mixture comprising polydiorganosiloxane polymer and an organohydrogensiloxane crosslinker, wherein the reaction is catalyzed by a metallic catalyst. The silicone tie coat has a thickness of at least about 20 μm.

Tie coat

A mixture curable in the presence of a suitable metallic catalyst to provide an intumescent coating material. The mixture comprises: a siloxane polymer; a cross-linker for cross-linking the siloxane polymer; filler, wherein the filler comprises char reinforcing filler; and an intumescent ingredient. The intumescent ingredient comprises a phosphorus containing compound or a composition comprising a phosphorus containing compound. The mixture comprises 5 to 20% by weight of the phosphorus containing compound or composition comprising a phosphorus containing compound. The intumescent ingredient comprises 10 to 40% by weight expandable graphite.

Protective coatings

A mixture curable in the presence of a metallic catalyst to provide a material for thermally insulating a substrate useable subsea. The mixture comprises from 55 to 99% by weight of a norbornene monomer and a water insoluble polymer filler. The water insoluble polymer filler comprises polystyrene or polypropylene, or derivatives thereof.

Mixture curable to provide a material for thermally insulating a substrate useable subsea

A mixture curable to provide an intumescent coating material. The mixture comprises a silicone polymer, a cross-linker, a diluent and an intumescent ingredient. The mixture comprises at least 50% by weight of the intumescent ingredient.

A structure for protecting a substrate. The structure comprises an inner tie coat layer which can bond to the substrate, a geopolymer foam layer, and an outer protective layer. The geopolymer foam layer is the reaction product of a mixture comprising an aluminosilicate source, an alkali activator, reinforcing fibres, and a plurality of microparticles.

Geopolymeric foam comprising triple-layered structure for protecting a substrate

A thermal insulation structure for a substrate for use subsea, and a method of providing a thermal insulating structure. The structure comprises: an inner layer and an outer layer. The inner layer is the reaction product of a first part and a second part, wherein the weight ratio of the first part to the second part is from about 15:1 to 1:1. The first part comprises any of alkenyldialkyl terminated polydialkylsiloxane, alkenyldialkyl terminated polydialkylalkenylmethylsiloxane or mixtures thereof, which will individually or collectively have a viscosity of from 250 to 10000 mPa&#xb7;s at 25&#xb0; C., and a hydrosilylation catalyst. The second part comprises a mixture of organohydrogensiloxane having two Si&#x2014;H bonds per molecule and organohydrogensiloxane having at least three Si&#x2014;H bonds per molecule. The outer layer is the reaction product of a first part and a second part, wherein the weight ratio of the first part to the second part is from about 15:1 to 1:1. The first part comprises any of alkenyldialkyl terminated polydialkylsiloxane, alkenyldialkyl terminated polydialkylalkenylmethylsiloxane or mixtures thereof, which will individually or collectively have a viscosity of from 250 to 10000 mPa&#xb7;s at 25&#xb0; C., and a hydrosilylation catalyst. The second part comprises organohydrogensiloxane having at least two Si&#x2014;H bonds per molecule and alkenylated MQ silicone resin, wherein said M group comprises at least two Si-alkenyl bonds per molecule.

Thermal insulation structure

A fire resistant syntactic foam material, the material comprising the reaction product of a reaction mixture including a resole cold curing phenolic resin and incorporating a plurality of hollow spheres, the reaction mixture also including a solution of a partial phosphate ester, a low viscosity phosphate plasticiser, a reinforcing filler and a particulate filler.

Syntactic foam

An intumescent coating material, the material comprising first and second parts mixable together so that the material will cure by an addition reaction in the presence of a metallic catalyst. The first part including a polydiorganosiloxane polymer having at least two unsaturated groups per molecule. The first part also including the metallic catalyst and a reinforcing filler. The second part including an organohydrogensiloxane crosslinker described by formula RSi(OSiR)(OSiMeH)OSiR, where each Ris independently selected from saturated hydrocarbon radicals comprising from 1 to 10 carbon atoms or aromatic hydrocarbon radicals and each Ris independently selected from hydrogen or R, x is zero or an integer and y is an integer. The organohydrogensiloxane has at least three Si&#x2014;H bonds per molecule.

Coating material

A method of forming a buoyancy providing component, the method comprising locating a plurality of macrospheres in a mould, providing a composition including DCPD (dicyclo pentadiene) resin, a ruthenium or osmium catalyst, and a plurality of microspheres, dispensing the composition in liquid form into the mould to encapsulate the macrospheres, and allowing the mixture to set in the mould.

A method of coating an expandable item () such as a pressure vessel or process vessel used for instance in the off shore oil industry. A compressible flexible intermediate layer () is provided on the item (), and a support member () is embedded in the intermediate layer (). The support member () comprises an open framework base () and a plurality of projecting members upstanding therefrom and extending out of the intermediate layer () away from the item (). A thermally insulating coating layer () is applied over the intermediate layer () such that the projecting members () extend into the coating layer (), and are wholly located in the coating layer ().

Coating method

A subsea thermal insulating structure with a flexible inner tie coat which is the reaction product of a cold curing phenolic resin and a partial phosphate ester; a foam insulating layer which is the reaction produce of a cold cure phenolic syntactic resin and a partial phosphate ester; and an outer protective layer which is the reason product of a cold cure phenolic resin and a partial phosphate ester.
