A chew toy for pets can be produced as a combination of different materials, preferably with a rigid shell and softer chew portions extending from the shell. The shell can have multiple parts that join together to encase a mounting structure or frame, which can include threaded portions that connect to the chew portions. The shell can also include apertures through which the chew portion can protrude. The chew portion can include a plurality of projections extending outward from the base. The rigidity of the shell can provide structure, protect the internal structure, and provide extra support for the chew portions, whereas the softer chew portions can provide beneficial effects to a pet's teeth or gums or provide greater chewing pleasure. A scented insert can be housed within the shell and the scent can be emitted through passageways through the shell.

Multipart chew toy

One embodiment of the present invention relates to a pet chew, comprising: a first member; a second member; means for mounting the first member and the second member in a rotatable orientation, wherein the first member and the second member are rotatable relative to one another around an axis of rotation; a plurality of scrubbing elements mounted on a first surface of the first member; and a plurality of scrubbing elements mounted on a first surface of the second member; wherein the first surface of the first member and the first surface of the second member are generally perpendicular to the axis of rotation. Another embodiment of the present invention relates to a pet chew, comprising: a plurality of circular disks, wherein each of the disks includes an obverse surface, a reverse surface, and an outer circumferential surface; means for mounting the disks in a rotatable orientation, wherein the disks are rotatable relative to one another around an axis of rotation; and a plurality of scrubbing elements mounted on at least one of the obverse surface and the reverse surface of each disk. Methods of providing dental care to a pet are also disclosed.

Pet chews and methods of providing dental care to pets

A synthetic chew toy can be formed as a composite of two different materials. The toy can be formed with a rigid synthetic frame, supporting a softer chew portion. The chew portion can include a plurality of projections, preferably having a cylindrical shape with a hemispheric end, extending outward from a base of the chew portion. Thus, the rigidity of the frame provides structure, support and durability for the chew toy, and the relatively softer chew portion can provide beneficial effects to a pets teeth and gums, or provide greater chewing pleasure.

Scented chew toy

A chewable pet toy is provided with an outer shell molded from a durable semi-rigid material such as vinyl plastic. The shell partially covers an inner bladder formed of a less durable and softer material such as latex rubber. The bladder can be held within the sleeve with a simple resilient interference fit.

Shrouded chewable pet toys and method of making

One or more vertical columns constructed from a series of interconnected column segments support one or more platforms upon which a pet may rest. Tubular column segments are interconnected within mating sockets provided on the platforms as well as on lateral connectors used for interconnecting and mutually supporting adjacent modular columns. Each platform as well as the entire column upon which each platform is supported may be rotated to any desired angle with respect to an adjacent support column to vary the size and configuration of the assembly.
