A process and catalyst are provided for the hydrogenation of a hydrocarbon feedstock consisting essentially of hydrocarbon boiling between about 150.degree. F. and 700.degree. F. at atmospheric pressure. The process comprises reacting the feedstock with hydrogen at hydrogenation conditions in the presence of a catalyst comprising hydrogenation metals and a support comprising beta zeolite. The hydrogenation metals comprise from about 0.1 percent by weight to about 2.0 percent by weight each of palladium and platinum measured as a percentage of the catalyst. The beta zeolite comprises from about 1 ppm by weight to about 3.0 percent by weight sodium calculated as a percentage of said beta zeolite.

Distillate hydrogenation catalyst

Hydroconversion processes employing 2,4-heteroatom-substituted-molybdena-3,3-dioxocyclopentane hydro-conversion catalysts are disclosed. In some embodiments, inexpensive bulk catalysts in accordance with the present invention are synthesized from bulk triglyceridic epoxides or fatty acids.

Resid hydroprocessing catalyst

A catalyst and method of making a catalyst are provided for the selective hydrotreating of a selective hydrotreating feedstock comprising reacting the feedstock with hydrogen at hydrotreating conditions in the presence of a catalyst comprising a hydrogenation component and a support component. The hydrogenation component comprises a Group VIB metal component and a Group VIII metal component wherein the Group VIB metal component is present in an amount ranging from about 4 wt % to about 20 wt % and the Group VIII metal component is present in an amount ranging from about 0.5 wt % to about 10 wt %, both calculated as oxides and based on the total catalyst weight. The support component comprises from about 0.5 wt % to about 50 wt % of a magnesium component and from about 0.02 wt % to about 10 wt % of an alkali metal component, both calculated as oxides and based on the total catalyst weight. The present invention provides a process, catalyst, and method of making a catalyst resulting in higher selective hydrotreating feedstock octane at high levels of desulfurization, among numerous other benefits.

Selective hydrotreating catalyst

A process and catalyst is provided for the hydrogenation of a hydrocarbon feedstock comprising a substantial portion of a distillate hydrocarbon feedstock, wherein said distillate hydrocarbon feedstock consists essentially of material boiling between about 150.degree. F. and about 700.degree. F. at atmospheric pressure, which comprises reacting the feedstock with hydrogen at hydrogenation conditions in the presence of a catalyst comprising from about 0.1% to about 2.0% by weight of palladium and from about 0.1% to about 2.0% by weight of platinum and a support comprising borosilicate, for producing a hydrogenated product.

A catalyst and process are disclosed for upgrading heavy feedstocks such as resid. The catalyst comprises a porous inorganic oxide support having an incremental pore volume maximum at a pore radius greater than 50 Angstroms bearing between 0.1 to 5.0 weight percent nickel and having at least 0.4 cc/g of pores having a radius less than 125 Angstroms. An ebullated bed hydroconversion process employing the catalyst also is disclosed.

Resid hydrotreating catalyst and process

A process and catalyst are provided for hydrogenation of a hydrocarbon feedstock consisting essentially of material boiling between about 150.degree. F. and about 700.degree. F. which comprises reacting the feedstock with hydrogen at hydrogenation conditions in the presence of a catalyst comprising hydrogenation metals and a support comprising zeolite Y. The hydrogenation metals comprise from about 0.1 percent to about 2.0 percent by weight each of palladium and platinum calculated as a percentage of the catalyst. The zeolite Y further comprises sodium in an amount ranging from about 1.5 to about 8.0 percent of the zeolite Y by weight. The process of the present invention provides substantially improved dearomatization performance, increased desulfurization and denitrogenation, increased distillate product cetane number, and increased distillate volume expansion.

A method for making polymerization catalysts is disclosed which comprises contacting a soluble complex prepared from the combination of a metal dihalide and a transition metal compound with a particulate material comprising zirconium phosphate and then reacting the resulting mixture with an organoaluminum halide to produce a catalyst precursor. The catalyst precursor is then contacted with a halogen containing compound selected from halides of Groups IVA and VA to produce the catalyst. Novel catalysts prepared in accordance with the invention method, novel polymerization processes therewith and novel polymers having relatively high melt flow rates while retaining good mechanical strength are also disclosed.

Olefin polymerization catalyst and polymerization process

A process, catalyst, and method of making a catalyst are provided for the selective hydrotreating of a selective hydrotreating feedstock comprising reacting the feedstock with hydrogen at hydrotreating conditions in the presence of a catalyst comprising a hydrogenation component and a support component. The hydrogenation component comprises a Group VIB metal component and a Group VIII metal component wherein the Group VIB metal component is present in an amount ranging from about 4 wt % to about 20 wt % and the Group VIII metal component is present in an amount ranging from about 0.5 wt % to about 10 wt %, both calculated as oxides and based on the total catalyst weight. Selective hydrotreating

A coal liquefaction process employing a first stage liquefaction step catalyzed by a soluble molybdenum-containing organophosphorodithioate catalyst is disclosed. In some embodiments, two consecutive liquefaction steps employ a molybdenum-containing organophosphorodithioate catalyst operating at a relatively high liquefaction temperature. In other embodiments, a second liquefaction process step operating at a relatively low temperature employs a hydrocracking catalyst to upgrade materials obtained from the first soluble catalyst liquefaction step. In some embodiments, an interstage gas separator removes gases such as carbon dioxide produced in the first liquefaction step from a partially liquefied mixture prior to further liquefying the mixture in the second liquefaction step.

Coal liquefaction process using soluble molybdenum-containing

The process of the present invention provides substantially improved dearomatization performance, increased desulfurization and denitrogenation, increased distillate product cetane number, increased distillate volume expansion, and utilizes a more durable catalyst.

A hydroprocessing catalyst and process of using such catalyst wherein such catalyst has at least one hydrogenation metal deposited on an inorganic oxide support and is further characterized by a surface area of greater than about 220 m.sup.2 /g, a pore volume of about 0.23-0.30 cc/g in pores greater than about 600 Angstroms radius, an average pore radius of about 30-70 Angstroms in pores less than 600 Angstroms, and an incremental pore volume curve with a maximum at about 25-50 Angstroms radius.
