A bumper with an attachment member to be made thereon for the purpose of mounting the bumper onto longitudinal beams of a vehicle, is such that section walls acting as compressive and tensile struts and a pair of flanking walls joining them form a hollow section. The attachment member is in the form of a hollow section exhibiting at least one side wall and two transverse walls following on therefrom with a length of hollow section with the longitudinal beam. The hollow section is in the form of a push-fit length matching the inner cross-section of the longitudinal beam. The other end region of the attachment member is provided with collar-type parts projecting from their end edges and aligned approximately parallel to the transverse walls. In a use position, the collar-type parts of the attachment member are aligned with the flanking walls of the bumper and are releasably attached to it. The bumper is bolted to the collar-type parts of the attachment member.

A bumper having a hollow section and attached to it mounting brackets for attaching the bumper to a vehicle&#x2014;in particular on longitudinal beams of a private car&#x2014;is such that section walls that are spaced apart form a compression strut and a tensile strut and a pair of flanking walls joining the said struts make up the hollow section. The bracket itself is a hollow section which exhibits a length of hollow-section beam facing the longitudinal beam and a curved length which is bent out from its longitudinal axis and is for connection to the hollow section of the bumper. In addition, the hollow section of the bracket contains two side walls which are joined by transverse walls and, in the region of the curved length, one of the side walls is brought up against the other side wall forming a channel-shaped cross-section

In a vehicle with a bumper which is attached to the vehicle transverse to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle via a deformation element, the deformation element exhibits two first side walls that are spaced apart, and are joined to second side walls that are spaced apart. The first and second side walls have first and second grooves that run transverse to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and are arranged in pairs opposite each other, each in a common plane. The first grooves extend over the whole breadth of the first side walls and the second grooves extend over only a middle part of the second side walls leaving a region free at both edges. The first grooves are arranged in pairs in first planes and the second grooves are arranged in pairs in second planes situation between two subsequent first planes.

A bumper for a vehicle having an extruded light metal alloy hollow section with section walls in the form of a compressive strut and a tensile strut which are spaced apart and a pair of transverse walls joining them. In the interior of the hollow section there is a reinforcing bead provided on at least one of the transverse walls and/or on one of the section walls joining them. This bead is situated in at least one corner region between a transverse wall and the section wall joining them, the latter of which may preferably be a section inner wall facing the vehicle.

A vehicle features a bumper which runs transverse to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and which is attached to the vehicle by at least one deforming element. The deforming element is essentially in the form of a tube-shaped length of section of light weight metal having its longitudinal axis lying in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and is divided into longitudinal chambers by inner struts.

A bumper for vehicles, in particular for private cars, features an extruded section of light metal alloy that can be attached to the vehicle and exhibits in the form of section walls (12, 14) a compression wall (12) and a tension wall (14) that are spaced a distance (1) apart and a pair of transverse walls (16,18) that join these to form a hollow section, where at least one transverse strut (20, 22, 24) is provided between the transverse walls (16,18), joins these walls (12, 14) to each other and divides the hollow section into chambers. A vertical strut (26) is provided between the section walls (12, 14) joining the both transverse walls (16, 18) to each other and dividing the hollow section into a primary deformation part (A) with the chambers (30) bordering onto the compression wall (12) and a secondary deformation part (B) with chambers (32) bordering onto the tension wall (14).

A bumper with brackets attached for mounting it onto a vehicle, in particular a private car, is such that, at least in the region of the brackets, the bumper is bowed with respect to the front line of the vehicle, and features section walls a distance apart in the form of a compression wall and a tension wall and a pair of transverse walls joining them making up a hollow section. The brackets feature a wedge-shaped support, the sloping face of which lies against the tension wall and is connected to this in region at the highest point of the sloping face.

Play-free longitudinal guiding means having rails than run inside each other, namely a lower rail and an upper rail that can be displaced in a sliding manner with respect to the lower rail, for securing seats in vehicles such as private cars. The play-free longitudinal guiding means is such that the lower rail features along its length wall parts that have the shape of alignment grooves, and the upper rail features wall parts which run parallel to the wall parts of the lower rail and are shaped into an alignment groove, and the alignment grooves of the upper and lower rails face each other and form a sliding alignment channel. In the sliding channel there are sliding elements which in the free-standing condition exhibit a larger cross-section than in the installed condition, and the sliding elements guide the lower and upper rails without any play.

The impact girder extruded in a light metal alloy and extending in the vehicle door approximately in the direction of travel can be fixed at both ends in such a way that a profile wall of the impact girder faces towards the inside of the vehicle as the inner flange and a second profile wall of the impact girder provided at a distance from the first forms an outer flange. Fastened to the impact girder is a hollow chamber profile, similarly extruded from a light metal alloy, with at least two profile chambers, the hollow chamber profile protruding into the door box below the impact girder and the profile chambers extending parallel to the latter. The hollow chamber profile provides additional impact protection.

The support tube for kneepads serves to promote the passive safety of occupants in a vehicle. The support tube of non-buckling construction consists of an integrally extruded tubular piece for the absorption of force. It has no doublings, is of round, oval or rounded-off construction and has at least one internal longitudinal web. The longitudinal web/webs of a support tube preferably mounted with a screw or plug-in connection in a passenger vehicle runs/run expediently approximately in the direction of the force effect to be expected.
