Systems and methods are disclosed for providing a multi-component application, including a first and second component, and a first and second server. The first component may be implemented at the first server, while a second component may be implemented at a client device. An end user of a client device may request access to metadata stored on the second server that is utilized by the second component to implement the multi-component application. The end user may authenticate with the first component. The first component may then communicate with the second server to authenticate the end user to the second server, thereby granting the end user access to the second server without having to reauthenticate to the second server.

Enabling pass-through authentication in a multi-component application

Systems, methods, and computer readable media are disclosed for generating and providing concurrent journey visualizations associated with different journey definitions. In computer-implemented embodiments, a data intake and query system, or a journey visualization computing tool, can be used to generate and provide concurrent representations corresponding with different journey definitions. In operation, a set of journey instances associated with a journey having a set of steps is obtained. Each step may be associated with at least one event that includes raw machine data produced by a component of an information technology environment. Upon obtaining different journey definitions specifying filters to apply to the set of journey instances, the data intake and query system can generate journey visualizations in accordance with the journey definitions. Thereafter, the journey visualizations corresponding with the journey definitions can be concurrently displayed by a computing device via a graphical user interface.

Generating new visualizations based on prior journey definitions

Systems and methods are disclosed for providing a multi-component application, including a first and second component. Functionality of the application may be easily and rapidly modified by modification to the first component, without requiring modification to the second component. The first component may be implemented locally at a client device, while the second component is implemented remotely. While modification of the second component may require privileges of a remote location, a user of a client device may modify the first component while maintaining interoperability and compatibility with the second component, thereby enabling the end user to modify functionality of the multi-component application. In some instances, different versions of a first component are provided, and an end user of a client device is enabled to specify which version of the first component should be used.

Systems and methods are disclosed for processing events having raw machine data associated with a timestamp using one or more pivot identifiers and one or more step identifiers to generate one or more journey instances. Based on the one or more pivot identifier field, the system can relate events that have a common field value for the pivot identifier field. Based on the one or more step identifiers, the system can group the related events into a subset of events. Using the subset of events, the system can build a journey instance.

Relating events and matching events to steps of a process using field values from different fields

Embodiments of the disclosure are systems and methods for updating third party visualizations in response to a query. In one embodiment, a method is provided that includes receiving input data comprising events, where the events comprise time-stamped machine- generated data. The method also comprises receiving a modular visualization that includes a variable field associated with a visualization and instructions for rendering the visualization using the input data and the variable field. Further, the method comprises rendering the visualization based on the input data and a value associated with the variable field. Additionally, the method comprises updating the value of the variable field and obtaining updated input data using a search query that is generated using the updated value. The visualization is re-rendered based on the updated input data and the updated value.

Systems and methods for rendering a third party visualization in response to events received from search queries

The disclosure relates to certain system and method embodiments for generating reports from unstructured data. In one embodiment, a method can include identifying events matching criteria of an initial search query (each of the events including a portion of raw machine data that is associated with a time), identifying a set of fields, each field defined for one or more of the identified events, causing display of an interactive graphical user interface (GUI) that includes one or more interactive elements enabling a user to define a report for providing information relating to the matching events (each interactive element enabling processing or presentation of information in the matching events using one or more fields in the identified set of fields), receiving, via the GUI, a report definition indicating how to report information relating to the matching events, and generating, based on the report definition, a report including information relating to the matching events.

Embodiments of the disclosure are systems and methods for updating third party visualizations in response to a query. Systems and methods for updating a third party visualization in response to a query

Systems and methods are disclosed for providing a multi-component application, including a first and second component. Functionality of the application may be modified by modification of the first component, potentially without requiring modification of the second component. However, some functionalities added to application may require modifications to both the first and second component. To maintain compatibility between components, the first component can be configured to detect versioning information of a second component, and adjust its functionality to disable functions unavailable due to lack of compatibility with a current version of the second component. The first component can notify an end user of any such lack of compatibility, and potentially instruct the end user in updating the second component.

Disclosed is a technique for generating a visualization module for use within a framework for generating for display an interactive visualization of event data based on a static visualization library. In an embodiment, a computer system receives from a developer instructions for formatting event data for use with a visualization library, and rendering the formatted event data with the visualization library. The computer system then generates a visualization module including the received instructions, the visualization module being executable by another computer system to generate and cause display of an interactive visualization of received event data, the interactive visualization being dynamically modifiable in response to a user input.

A modular visualization framework registers definitions for a variety of visualization types. The definitions are tagged with visualization characteristics. During a working session, likely interactive, a user identifies a search query used to produce data to be visualized. The working context, including the search query and data produced by its execution, is tagged for its visualization characteristics. Information about the working context, including its visualization characteristics, is then used to produce a customized list of candidates suited for the working context from which the user may select a visualization type.
