The invention consists of a continuous sorting method and device which highlights the trajectory differences to which fibers of different form factors and particles charged under the joint influence of electrical forces and a centrifugal force could be subjected. Thus, according to the sorting method, the conditions exploit this difference in order to recover/collect the fibers separated from the non-fibrous particles present in the same initial aerosol or to sort fibers exhibiting different form factors.

The invention relates to a method and device for collecting particles which may be present in an aerosol. The invention consists in electrostatically collecting all the particles in an aerosol, but uncoupling mechanisms of particle charging by unipolar ion diffusion, for charging then collecting the finest particles, from particle charging by a corona effect electrical field, for charging then collecting the biggest particles in a different collection zone from the collection zone for the finest particles. The invention also relates to the use of such a device as ionisation chamber or for evaluating the exposure of workers or consumers to nanoparticles.

Selective aerosol particle collecting method and device, according to particle size

The invention relates to a method for the selective purification of aerosols. The invention consists in electrostatically collecting all of the particles present in an aerosol, but with separation of the mechanisms on one hand for charging particles by unipolar ion diffusion in order to charge and then collect the finest particles, and on the other hand for charging particles by means of Corona discharge in order to charge and then collect the largest particles on a substrate different from the substrate for collecting the finest particles.

Method for the selective purification of aerosols

The invention relates to a method and device for collecting nanoparticles which may be present in an aerosol. The invention consists of electrostatically collecting nanoparticles contained in an aerosol by a mechanism of particle charging by unipolar ion diffusion, followed by the application of a field without a corona effect, which makes it possible to deposit the particles in concentric rings on different parts of a single flat substrate oriented orthogonally to the aerosol circulation direction. The biggest particles are deposited towards the centre of the flat substrate and the finest particles towards the periphery of the flat substrate. The invention also relates to a method of operation and to the use of such a device for evaluating the exposure of workers or consumers to nanoparticles.

A device for picking and transporting nano-objects present in an aerosol for analyzing includes a porous sampling filter configured to trap the nano-objects. The device also includes a cassette having means for holding the filter in a cavity within the cassette, an inlet orifice configured to allow aspirated aerosol to pass through, and an outlet orifice configured to pass the filtered aerosol, rid of the nano-objects trapped upstream of the inlet orifice of the cassette. A module of the device is configured to collect, by inertial impaction, the particles of a size above a threshold value and to allow aerosol containing particles of a size smaller than the threshold value to pass. The module is further configured to reduce, during picking, emission noise of the aspiration means of the picking device on which the cassette is fixed.

An assembly for picking and transporting nano-objects, comprises a cassette having first and second components, which are provided with means of mutual assembly and with means for holding the filter. The first and second components define, when the components are in an assembled configuration, a cavity in which the filter is housed and held therein. The means of mutual assembly comprise first clipping means secured to the first component, second clipping means secured to the second component and able to collaborate with the first clipping means so as to clip the two components together. A picking device comprises suction means to which the cassette is able to be removably attached. The first and second clipping means are configured such that they are not accessible from the outside when the components are in the assembled configuration with the cassette fixed to the device.

A filtration assembly for filtering nanoparticles includes a filter having pores that can retain nanoparticles likely to be found in an air flow passing through the filter and a filter support including two parts. A lower base-forming part of the filter support includes a peripheral bearing surface on which the filter can rest. An upper ring-shaped part of the filter support is designed to be mounted around the bearing surface of the base. By mounting the ring around the bearing surface of the base it is possible to tension the filter radially to the direction of mounting. The mounting clearance between the ring and the bearing surface of the base is dimensioned such as to maintain the filter resting on the bearing surface under mechanical stress by means of pinching, in a direction radial to the mounting direction.

The present invention relates to a method for impregnating a filter having pores suitable for retaining particles within them that may be present in a flow of air suitable for passing through the filter, according to which the filter made up of a polymer membrane is impregnated with one or more organometallic salts by applying a treatment using supercritical CO, the metal M of each salt being chosen from among the group of rare earths, yttrium, scandium, chromium, or a combination thereof. A cassette portion of the device includes two parts with mutual assembly mechanisms between them including a clipping mechanism configured not to be accessible from outside in assembled position of the parts. Therefore, any inopportune opening of the cassette and thus extraction of the sampling filter accommodated in the cassette somewhere else than the place intended for the analysis are avoided.
