There is provided an apparatus for monitoring a wearer of a breathing apparatus, comprising a pressure detecting device and a mobile monitoring unit. The pressure detecting device comprises a pressure transducer arranged to detect a pressure of a gas supply of the breathing apparatus; and a wireless transmitter arranged to wirelessly transmit a preset number of ON signals when it is determined that the pressure of the gas supply has exceeded a predetermined on threshold. The mobile monitoring unit is arranged to be attached to the wearer and comprises a motion sensor arranged to monitor the motion of the wearer; an alarm; and a wireless receiver arranged to receive signals wirelessly transmitted by the wireless transmitter of the pressure detecting device.

Monitoring apparatus

There is disclosed a dial gauge comprising a dial plate having a dial face including angularly spaced markings indicating values; a pointer disposed at a front side of the dial plate and angularly moveable over the dial face with respect to the markings so as to indicate a reading. An illumination source is provided which is arranged to emit illumination light and which is disposed below the dial plate. The gauge further comprises a light guide arranged to guide illumination light from below the dial plate to the front side of the dial plate so as to illuminate the dial face from above. There is also disclosed a mechanical pressure gauge comprising a dial gauge and a breathing apparatus comprising a cylinder of breathable gas fluidically coupled to a pressure gauge which is configured to display the pressure of the breathable gas.

An adjustable harnessfor a self contained breathing apparatus, a back plate, a sliding plate, a pair of shoulder strapsand a belt. The sliding platecan move longitudinally with respect to the back plate between the extended position and the un-extended position. Shoulder strapsare fixed to an upper portion of the sliding plate and a beltis fixed to a lower portion of the back plate. A valveis provided at the bottom of the back plateso that a cylinder of breathable gas connected to the valve may be retained by a retaining strap. Hosesare attached to the sliding plate, cross over in the region of the openingand as such the side of the sliding plateto which they are attached is different to the side of the valvefrom which they leave. Guide channelsare shaped to retain the hoses. The hosesfold and unfold within the confines of the platesto prevent snagging.

Adjustable harness

A cylinder back plate includes a frame memberand a cylinder clampconnected to the frame memberby means of a pivot. The cylinder clampcomprises a band of rigid or semi-rigid material. The cylinder clamphas a retaining position with respect to the frame member, wherein the cylinder clamp extends substantially perpendicularly to the plane of the frame member. The frame memberlies parallel to a back plate of the harness or is constituted by the back plate of the harness. Thus, when the cylinder clampis in the retaining position a cylinder can be retained securely to the frame member and sliding of the cylinder relative to the frame member or back plate can be prevented. When it is desired to attach a new cylinder to the harness, the cylinder clampcan be pivoted into a loading position.
