A method and an arrangement in connection with a production line for optic cable, wherein optical fibers () are guided to a coating point (), where filling gel is applied around the fibres, and a loose tubular casing is formed around the fibres and the filling gel. The fibres () are guided to the coating point through a device () that is formed from three parts (), said device being supported on a first base () and on a second base () moving in the travel direction of the fibres. Sensors () are arranged in the first and second bases () for measuring the force acting on the bases (). The arrangement further comprises means () for calculating the difference between said measured values for determining the friction force between the fibres and the tubular device ().

Method and arrangement in connection with production line for optic cable

The invention relates to an arrangement in connection with a fibre coating line which comprises a fibre payout device ( ) from which fibres are arranged to be guided to a press ( ) for forming a coating round the fibres, a cooling device ( ) for cooling a conductor formed by the coating and the fibres, a pulling device ( ) by means of which the conductor formed by the coating and the fibres is pulled further from the press ( ), and means for guiding the conductor to the next processing stage after cooling, whereby the pulling device ( ) is arranged above the height of the line so as to enable the lowest point of the pulling device ( ) to be substantially at the height of the line. To facilitate the start-up of the line, the pulling device ( ) is arranged to be uplifted entirely above the height of the line substantially in a vertical direction.
