The present invention relates to a method for the treatment of an exhaust gas comprising carbon monoxide (CO) and/or one or more volatile organic compounds (VOCs) using a PGM-free catalyst article comprising a mixed oxide of Mn, Cu, Mg, Al and La. The present invention also relates to an HVAC system comprising a PGM-free catalyst article.

Method for the treatment of an exhaust gas and an HVAC system

A catalyst for treating an exhaust gas comprising SO, NOand elemental mercury in the presence of a nitrogenous reductant comprises a composition containing oxides of: (i) Molybdenum (Mo) and optionally Tungsten (W); and (ii) Vanadium (V); and (iii) Titanium (Ti); and (iv) Phosphorus (P), wherein, with respect to the total metal atoms in the composition, the composition comprises: (i) Mo in an amount of less than 2 at. %, and optionally up to 9 at. % W; (ii) from 2.5 to 12 at. % V; (iii) from 85 to 96 at. % Ti, and wherein the composition comprises (iv) P in an atomic ratio to the sum of atoms of Mo, W and V of from 1:2 to 3:2. The values expressed must total 100%.

Catalyst for treating an exhaust gas, an exhaust system and a method

A catalyst for treating an exhaust gas comprising SO, NOand elemental mercury in the presence of a nitrogenous reductant comprises a composition containing oxides of: (i) Molybdenum (Mo) and/or Tungsten (W); (ii) Vanadium (V); (iii) Titanium (Ti), and (iv) an MFI zeolite, wherein the composition comprises, based on the total weight of the composition: (i) 1 to 6 wt % of MoOand/or 1 to 10 wt % WO; and (ii) 0.1 to 3 wt % VO, and (iii) 48.5 to 94.5 wt % TiO; and (iv) 35 to 50 wt % MFI zeolite.

Articles comprising a catalyst film comprising VOx, MoOor WO, and TiOdeposited on a substrate are disclosed. The articles are useful for selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NOx in exhaust gases. Methods for producing such articles deposit a catalyst film on the substrate to form a coated substrate, which is then calcined. When used in an SCR process, the coated articles have enhanced activity for NOx conversion, reduced activity for SOx conversion, or both. Light-weight, coated articles having high catalyst loads can be fabricated at the same or reduced dimensions when compared with laminated articles, and increased kNOx/kSOx ratios are available even from coated articles having relatively thin catalyst films. The articles should have particular value for power plant operations, where coal and high-sulfur fuels are commonly used and controlling sulfur trioxide generation is critical.
