In order to advantageously weld a pre-mounted connector-plug part () to an optical waveguide cable, the connector-plug part is provided with a pin holder () receiving a connector-plug pin () on a pin receiving section (). In order to advantageously weld a pre-mounted connector-plug part () to an optical waveguide cable, the connector-plug part is provided with a pin holder () receiving a connector-plug pin () on a pin receiving section (). Preferably, two cladding parts (') form a cable receiving section () in said pin holder. In order to carry out welding in a simple manner on the bare end () of the end of a fiber, the cladding parts (&#x2032;) can be pivoted around a hinge (&#x2032;) between an open position and a closed position. A dividable protective sheath (&#x2032;) is provided inside the cable receiving section or inside the cladding parts and can enclose the weld. When mounted, the protective sheath can be de-coupled from the cladding parts (&#x2032;).

Connector-plug part for an optical plug-in connection

The invention relates to a plug-in element () for an optical plug-in connection. Said element comprises a connector pin (), which is held in a guide sleeve () by axial spring-loaded prestress, in such a way that it can be displaced in a limited manner along its longitudinal axis (). The guide sleeve consists of at least two casing elements (') that can be assembled along their longitudinal axes. Said casing elements significantly simplify the production and assembly, as no screw or adhesive connections are required.

Plug-in element for an optical plug-in connection

An optical plug connection ( ) consists of a sleeve portion ( ) and a plug portion ( ). The sleeve portion ( ) comprises a sleeve housing ( ), the insert openings ( ) of which are closed by protecting flaps ( ) with spring action. These are formed as a bent component made of metal and are flexibly latched at the sleeve housing. A plug-and-socket connection includes a socket part on a mother board and a plug part on a daughter board. The plug part comprises a plug housing axially displaceably mounted on a daughter board. A securing mechanism latches the socket part in a latched position. The plug housing, in the insertion direction, is directly or indirectly supported on a push element in the form of a leaf spring with an angled part. The spring force of this leaf spring maintains the support until reaching the latching position. With a continued pushing movement, the support is automatically released by yielding of the leaf spring. In this manner the daughter board, after reaching the latching position, may be decoupled from the mother board.

Plug construction for an optical plug-and-socket connection

For the pull-proof locking of a plug part ( ) into a socket part there is provided a locking element ( ) which on a rotational link ( ) is pivotably fastened on a plug part and which is resiliently supported on the plug housing. The locking element is advantageously snapped onto the plug housing and is formed of a bending part of metal.

A positioning section ( ) permits the fixing of the radial relative position on a complementary positioning section on the plug housing ( ). Plug part for an optical plug-and-socket connection and method for its assembly

An insert-rack plug connection can be created between at least one sleeve portion (,) on a relatively fixed-position mother board (,) and at least one plug portion (,) on a relatively mobile daughter board (,). With that, the plug arrangement comprises a plug housing (,) mounted to displace axially on the daughter board and possessing a plug ferrule (,) mounted under preloaded axial spring tension. In addition, engagement means (,) for engagement of the plug housing into an engagement position in the sleeve portion are provided on the plug housing. In the insertion direction (x), the plug housing (,) is supported either directly of indirectly on a spring-action thrust element (,), the spring force of said thrust element maintaining the support until the engagement position has been reached, and subsequently automatically releasing said support on continued thrust movement. In this way, the daughter board (,) can be mechanically decoupled from the plug ferrule (,) or from the mother board (,) after reaching the engaged position in order to compensate mass tolerances. A U-shaped fork (,) preferably serves as a spring-action thrust element, the spring-action fork prongs of said fork being provided with thrust lugs (,) which coordinate with a mechanical thrust stop (,).

A sleeve part (,) for a plug connection for fiber optics is provided with an opening (,) for accommodating a plug part (,). The plug part (,) is insertable in the direction of an insertion axis (A) into the sleeve part (,). The sleeve part comprises a sleeve (,) for receiving a plug pin of the plug part (,). The sleeve part (,) is furthermore provided with a securing element (,) with a coding consisting of projections (,) and/or reliefs (,). The securement section (,) is arranged on at least one separately formed coding element (,&prime;). A protective flap (5) is arranged on the end of a lever arm formed as a flexible spring on the plug casing (2) of a plug (1, 1'), said protective flap covering the face and the end surfaces of an optical fiber. The lever arm is connected to the plug casing so as to be removable, and is shaped and arranged in such a way that the protective flap is pressed against the face under spring tension when in the closed position. With that, the protective flap assumes not only a screening function to guard against the escape of light, but also practically hermetically closes off the face and thus prevents dirt entering between the protective flap and the face.

Optical connection plug

A plug portion (1) for an optical plug connector has a plug casing (2) in which at least one connector pin (3) is held. A protective flap (4) for protection of the connector pin is pressed under spring tension against the face (7) of the plug casing. The protective flap is mounted to pivot and slide on an approximately linear guide path (5) in such a way that, on insertion of the plug portion into a sleeve portion, it is able to move from a closed position on the face of the plug casing into an opened position that is set back in relation to the face (7). In order to pre-load the protective flap under spring tension throughout its entire slide- and pivoting-travel, a compression spring is arranged on the plug casing (2) approximately parallel to the guide path (5), said compression spring impinging either directly or indirectly upon the protective flap (4) above the plane of the guide path (5) between the closed position and the opened position.

The plug arrangement (1) has two individual plugs (2, 2') that can be extracted solely by actuating a single release lever (3). At the same time, this release lever connects combines the plugs to a duplex plug unit. To improve axis parallelity. a connecting element (6) is additionally snapped onto both the plugs.

An adaptor (1) can be releasably connected to a fixed plug portion (13 or 21). The fixed plug portion is, with that, for example a component in a measuring device for taking measurements on differing optical fibers. The adaptor is provided with a sleeve (3) in which various transferable plug portions can be temporarily inserted. The sleeve has an axially parallel slot (6) for accommodating a rotational security device on an initial category of fixed plug portions (21). Additionally, the sleeve also has at least one further recess (4, 4, 5) on its outer casing for accommodation of the rotational security device (19, 19', 20) of a second category of fixed plug portions (13). In this way, an interface between adaptor (1) and fixed plug portion (13, 21) is created, which indeed enables combination with an adaptor equipped in the same way, although an adaptor without an additional recess is only able to be placed on one of the two categories.

An engagement device ensures that a plug portion (1) is held, secure against tension, in a sleeve portion (3). The engagement device has at least one locking catch (5) which is able to be engaged behind a locking element (6) when the plug portion is completely inserted. To release the lock, a releasing lever (7) is provided next to the locking element (6), with which the locking catch is able to be disengaged from the locking element. This releasing lever is formed as a double armed lever which is able to pivot on the plug portion. Through that, no excessive force must be exerted onto the sleeve portion in order to withdraw the plug portion.

The sleeve portion (1) contains a sleeve (2), the sleeve openings of which are overlain by moveable protective flaps (6, 6'). The protective flaps are placed under spring tension and are forced out of the closed position into an opened position during insertion of a plug ferrule (3) into the sleeve (2). The protective flaps have the effect that, when a plug is withdrawn out of the sleeve portion, no light can be emitted from the sleeve opening. The pivotable mounting of the protective flaps ensues between an inner sleeve housing (8) and an outer sleeve housing (9).
