A method and system include a symbol processing block to generate log likelihood ratios (LLRs) associated with one or more data symbols. The method and system include a channel estimation (CE) module to receive the LLRs from the symbol processing block, and to process iterative CE (ItCE) for new radio (NR) based at least on reference signals and the LLRs. The CE module can process the ItCE with a granularity of one or more resource blocks (RBs) based at least on pilot resource elements (REs) and virtual pilot REs obtained from the LLRs. The CE module can process the ItCE based at least on a frequency domain orthogonal cover codes (FD-OCC) structure of the reference signals. The reference signals can be demodulation reference signals (DMRS) configured in 5G NR. The CE module can process the ItCE by updating a CE result by adding a quantity that represents a contribution obtained from virtual pilot REs.

Iterative channel estimation for new radio (NR)

A method and apparatus are provided for pre-emption, congestion control, and transmission (Tx)/reception (Rx) alignment for use by user equipments (UEs) with limited power. A method and apparatus are provided for pre-emption, congestion control, and Tx/Rx alignment for use by a partial sensing UE. A method includes measuring resources within a first window; determining a number of the measured resources having an RSSI greater than a first threshold; determining a CBR based on the measured number of resources; and determining a CR limit based on the determined CBR and transmission priority. Determining the CBR based on the measured number of resources includes comparing a total number of measured resources within the first window to a second threshold; in response to the total number of measured resources being less than the second threshold, determining the CBR as a pre-configured CBR; and in response to the total number of measured resources being greater than or equal to the second threshold, determining the CBR based on a ratio of the number of the measured resources having the RSSI greater than the first threshold to the total number of measured resources within the first window.

A synchronization detection method for new radio (NR) sidelink. In some embodiments, the method includes calculating a first delay compensated input signal, calculating a first correlation value, calculating a first correlation power, calculating a first weighted correlation power, and detecting a synchronization signal. The first delay compensated input signal may be based on an input signal, and an index of a first tap value. The first correlation value may be based on a first candidate sequence and the first delay compensated input signal. The first correlation power may be based on the first correlation value. The first weighted correlation power may be based on a first weighting factor, and the first correlation power. The detecting of the synchronization signal may include using the first weighted correlation power.
