A cutting insert for milling wellbore casing in a downhole environment includes a body having a cutting face and a chip-breaking face. The cutting face and chip-breaking face are oriented at a face angle relative to each other, the face angle being between 75&#xb0; and 130&#xb0;. As the wellbore casing is milled, swarf is formed and work hardened. Further deformation of the swarf and movement along, or in contact with, the chip-breaking face breaks the swarf into chips that are readily flushed away or transported within the wellbore.

A milling tool includes a cutting insert coupled to a movable blade. The movable blade may change from a retracted to an expanded state to engage and cut downhole casing. A cutout initiation region of the movable blade makes contact with the downhole casing, and cutting inserts with turning portions designed to cut in a turning manner may be located in the cutout initiation region. Cutting inserts with milling portions designed to cut in a face-milling manner may be located outside the cutout initiation region. Some cutting inserts may include both turning portions and milling portions.

A cutting element for a cutting tool. The cutting element may be at least partially made from a composite material including a carbide material, a binder material, and a plurality of diamond particles. The carbide material may be from 55 wt % to 97 wt % of a total weight of the composite material. The binder material may be from 3 wt % to 20 wt % of the total weight of the composite material. The plurality of diamond particles may be from 0.1% to 25% of the total weight of the composite material. The carbide material and the binder material may be combined and sintered together prior to being combined with the plurality of diamond particles, such that the carbide material and the binder material form a plurality of pellets having an average cross-sectional length from 10 &#x3bc;m to 250 &#x3bc;m.

Cutting element for a downhole tool

A hardfacing composition comprising an iron-based binder alloy; and a carbide phase comprising a sintered carbide and a cast tungsten carbide, wherein the cast carbide is present in a quantity of at least 22% by weight, based on the total weight of the carbide phase, and the cast carbide comprises particles having sizes in the range of from 30 to 60 mesh. Also provided is a hardfacing composition comprising an iron-based binder alloy; and a carbide phase comprising a super dense sintered carbide and one or more additional carbide materials, wherein the super dense sintered carbide is present in a quantity of at least 10 percent by weight (% w), based on the total weight of the carbide phase, and comprises particles having sizes in the range of from 16 to 40 mesh. Included are methods of manufacturing such hardfacing compositions and downhole tools having such improved hardfacing compositions applied thereon.

A carbide composite material that includes a continuous ductile phase; and at least one discrete carbide region surrounded by the continuous ductile phase, each discrete carbide region may comprise an integrally bridged plurality of cast and/or sintered carbide particles, and each discrete region may have a nodular particle morphology.

The conductor cleaning system having a container adapted to receive a portion of a conductor to be cleaned, a housing adapted to receive and support the container, and a cleaning solution contained in the container for cleaning the portion of the conductor. The cleaning solution being adapted to clean the conductor without reacting with or damaging the conductor.
