A computer-implemented method for comparing a first version of a floorplan of a design for an integrated circuit with a second version. The method comprises (i) generating a timing information for each net in the second version by determining whether timing information is available for the net in the first version; (ii) in case no timing information is available in the first version, generating the timing information for the second version by calculating a spatial distance and timing information between two points of the net using wire length differences between the first version and the second version; (iii) otherwise, generating the timing information for the second version by calculating a spatial distance and timing information between two points of the net using a wire reach table to obtain a wire delay.

A computer implemented method for saving cache access power is suggested. The cache is provided with a set predictor logic for providing a generated set selection for selecting a set in the cache, and with a set predictor cache for pre-caching generated set indices of the cache. The method comprises further: receiving a part of a requested memory address; checking, in the set predictor cache, whether the requested memory address is already generated; in the case, that the requested memory address has already been generated: securing that the set predictor cache is switched off; issuing the pre-cached generated set index towards the cache; and securing that only that part of the cache is switched on that is associated with the pre-cached generated set index.

Method and arrangement for saving cache power

Improving operation of a processing unit to access data within a cache system. A first fetch request and one or more subsequent fetch requests are accessed in an instruction stream. An address of data sought by the first fetch requested is obtained. At least a portion of the address of data sought by the first fetch request in inserted in each of the one or more subsequent fetch requests. The portion of the address inserted in each of the one or more subsequent fetch requests is utilized to retrieve the data sought by the first fetch request first in order from the cache system.

A method to perform a least recently used (LRU) algorithm for a co-processor is described, which co-processor in order to directly use instructions of a core processor and to directly access a main storage by virtual addresses of said core processor comprises a TLB for virtual to absolute address translations plus a dedicated memory storage also including said TLB, wherein said TLB consists of at least two zones which can be assigned in a flexible manner more than one at a time. Said method to perform a LRU algorithm is characterized in that one or more zones are replaced dependent on an actual compression service call (CMPSC) instruction.
