In a method for stabilizing folded filter media, a thread is coated with a hot melt adhesive to prepare a coated thread. The coated thread is wound in a plastic state about fold tips of a folded filter medium. The plastic state of the coated thread is maintained by applying heat. The heat is applied in the form of hot air, infrared radiation, or generated by microwaves.

Method for the stabilization of folded filter media and a filter medium stabilized by said method

An apparatus and method for producing a zig-zag folded filter element from a web of material (,), which is supplied through a feeding device to a stamping unit (,). To define the folding line, the stamping unit is fitted with an anvil roll (,) and a stamping die (,), the stamping unit being ultrasound activated and thereby improving the stamping operation.

Device for folding a web of material

A filter insert for the filtering of the fresh air supplied to a motor vehicle interior has an accordion-folded filter element which is self-supporting. Lateral strips coated with an adhesive are provided on the faces which extend on the left and on the right. On the faces which extend in parallel to the folding, angle strips are arranged whose first leg extends along at least three fold edges. The filter element is surrounded along the faces by a foamed-material sealing.
