A surgical instrument () for the removal of tissue comprises an outer tube () having an opening () for the removal of tissue, fashioned in a distal region, preferentially in the vicinity of the distal end of the outer tube (). It further comprises an inner tube () disposed in the outer tube () and having a rigid proximal region for transferring forces or momenta acting on this proximal region to a distal region of the inner tube (), preferentially to the distal end of the inner tube (). The instrument further comprises a cutting tool () disposed at the distal region of the inner tube (), preferentially at the distal end of the inner tube (), for facilitating cutting of tissue which is subjected to the action of the cutting tool () in the vicinity of the opening () in the distal region of the outer tube (), wherein the inner tube () has a flexible region () located between its rigid proximal region and the cutting tool (). The inner tube () has a slit () in its wall in the flexible region () which, as viewed in the longitudinal direction of the inner tube () winds in a helical fashion about the longitudinal axis (L) of the inner tube () and meanders back and forth with respect to this helical line ().

Surgical instrument

Bipolar forceps for grasping and coagulating tissue, are constructed so as not to damage the mesosalpinx fused with a fallopian tube, when carrying out uterine tube sterilisation by coagulation. To this end the forceps are provided with a first and a second jaw for gripping and holding the tissue to be coagulated, the first jaw having a recess at its distal end and a mandrel being provided on the second jaw, which mandrel protrudes into the recess in the first jaw with clearance, when the jaws are in a closed position. A region between the jaws, which accommodates the tissue to be coagulated is limited distally by the mandrel and proximally by a limb of a bar on the first jaw for engaging in the second jaw when the jaws are in their closed position.

Endoscopic coagulation forceps

The invention relates to a trocar sleeve having a piston of a piston valve which can be brought into the open position against spring action by means of pressure on an actuation handle, which piston has a bore corresponding to the diameter of the access channel of the trocar sleeve. The valve piston can be fixed in its open position in the valve housing against its spring loading by a catch which can be released by hand.

Trocar sleeve

An organ manipulator is described for exposing an organ situated in a body cavity to be investigated or treated. The manipulator has a retractor body comprising a multi-joint lever system of articulated arms connected to one another, to be pivotally movable and which can be transformed from a axial position for introduction into the body cavity into an open position, in which is possible for the articulated arms to assume a flat triangular shape.

A retrograde cutting hook punch for arthroscopy is so designed that two ends of a fixed and a pivotable jaw member which are remote from the axis of pivot of the pivotable jaw member are laterally positioned at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the forceps, the pivotable jaw member, which is pivotable between limits set by two abutments, having an axially directed part which is guided to pivot in a longitudinal slot in the fixed jaw member, said axially directed part being provided with a downwardly open longitudinal slot to receive a traction and thrust rod for actuating the pivotable jaw member.

Retrograde cutting hook punch

The invention relates to a trocar sleeve for guiding endoscopes and instruments which can be exchanged for a trocar, the tube of the trocar sleeve being connected proximally to a handle part and being closable. The proximal end face of the handle part is covered by a closure part which can be adjusted by hand transversely to the tube axis and has at least one hole with an introduction support connected to it. The or each hole of the closure part can be covered by the tube channel as a result of appropriate rotation of the closure part.

Medical forceps are described which have a fixed jaw part and swingable jaw part with which parts a fixed handle part and a swingable handle part respectively are associated. In order to limit the pressure force which can be produced on the jaw parts, the swingable grip part is divided into two parts which are undetachably connected on a line with each other by a flexural spring element. For the fixing of the gripping position of the jaw parts detent elements which come into detachable engagement with each other are provided on the grip parts.

Medical forceps

An ocular attachment for an endoscope, in which the endoscopic image may be split into two images in each case by several adjacently positioned beam splitter elements which are displaceable transversely to the image axis, to which end, the one image may be transmitted to a first camera connector along the image axis acting as a first optical axis, and the other image may be transmitted to a second camera connector via an image ductor along a second optical axis. The degree of brightness of these two images may be adjusted by the beam splitter elements having different divisional ratios and held by a mounting, by placing one of the beam splitter elements in the beam path of the endoscopic image in each case, by displacing the mounting. An arrangement is also provided for supplying an undivided endoscopic image at will to the first or second camera connector.

Ocular attachment for an endoscope

An instrument for guiding a laser light transmitting fiber in intra-abdominal endoscopic work, comprises a shaft to the distal end of which is pivoted a fiber guide for deflecting the distal end of a fiber emerging from the distal end of the shaft. The shaft contains a fiber guide drive tube through which the fiber extends and which is articulated to the fiber guide by means of a link. A lever is provided for shifting the drive tube axially in the shaft to deflect the fiber guide and thus the distal end of the fiber, and a fiber feed device has a fiber feed member mounted for displacement axially of the shaft for advancing and retracting the fiber.

Instsrument for guiding a laser light transmitting fiber

A mediastinoscope having a shaft which is traversed by a photoconductor and an observation optical system, with the shaft being provided at its distal end with an atraumatically shaped cap, the greatest diameter of which is greater in comparison with the diameter of the shaft and into a cavity of which distally has an aperture, channels and the end of the optical system open out. Auxiliary instruments extending through a shaft channel can be conducted distalwards as far as the treatment location.

Mediastinoscope

A planar end face is ground such that at the end of the light-conducting fiber-optical bundle of an endoscope or technoscope the center axis of all light-conducting fibers discharge into the end face at an angle differing from 90.degree.. The light-conducting fibers can either be arranged parallel to the longitudinal axis of the bundle of the fiber optical bundle and the end face can be ground obliquely relative to the longitudinal axis of the bundle or the light-conducting fibers can be helically arranged around the longitudinal axis of the bundle and the end face can be ground perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the bundle. Given employment of standard and existing light projectors and light-conducting cables, the light exit angle at the distal end of the fiber-optical bundle can thereby be increased without significant light losses.

Apparatus for connecting an endoscope or technoscope comprising

For the examination of the fallopian tube, a salpingoscope has a first endoscope telescopically receiving a second endoscope which are displaceable relative one another. The optics of the second endoscope and the distal end of the outer guide shaft of the second endoscope are matched to the small diameter of the fallopian tube. An inner shaft guarantees an adequate stability of the thin optics of the second endoscope and an obturator may be used to replace the optics of the second endoscope while introducing the constricted end section of the outer shaft into the fallopian tube.

Salpingoscope

An instrument for endoscopic operations has trocar sleeve and a trocar sleeve insert which can be introduced and axially displaced in the trocar sleeve. In the working position, the trocar sleeve insert protrudes beyond the trocar sleeve in the distal region. The trocar sleeve can be fixed by flexible auxiliary instruments in the region of the organ to be treated. The trocar sleeve insert can be fixed in the organ wall by sealing lips.

Instrument for endoscopic operations

The shaft of an endoscope for passing through a trocar sleeve or a guiding shaft is tapered towards the distal extremity, and this taper is followed proximally by at least one shallowly concave peripheral constriction. The distal objective of the endoscope is thus spaced from the inner walls and distal edges of the trocar sleeve or guiding shaft, so that residues on these inner walls or edges do not contaminate or obscure objective but are instead scraped off by the peripheral constriction.

Optical system for an endoscope

A flexible or partially flexible endoscope comprising several passages and image guides passing through the shaft has the features that its distal omnilaterally steerable shaft is proximally constructed semirigidly or rigidly, is secured in a coupling element situated on the control housing and is traversed by several image guides which have allocated to them at the proximal control housing several monoculars and/or binoculars via rigid or flexible longitudinal elements. It is possible thereby to replace numerous separate endoscopes by a single endoscope.
