The present disclosure concerns methods and formulations for delivery of hydrophobic agents (such as ubiquinone or poorly soluble drugs) for therapeutic and bioanalytical use. It further concerns use of lipopeptides (e.g. caspofungin) or surfactants to solubilize hydrophobic agents and thus increase their bioavailability. Also described are therapeutic methods for the treatment of conditions that benefit from such hydrophobic agents. The present disclosure further relates to methods of identifying drug candidates for treatment of ubiquinone deficiency.

Formulations for improving the delivery of hydrophobic agents

The present invention provides methods for screening modulators of 2-polyprenyl-3-methyl-6-methoxy-1,4-benzoquinone (DMQ) hydroxylation activity, inhibitors and activators of the activity, and methods of using such compounds. More particularly, this invention relates to modulators of and UbiF and CLK-1 enzyme activity and methods of identifying same.

Method for identifying modulators of CLK-1 and UbiF activity

The invention relates to the identification of gro-1 gene and to demonstrate that the gro-1 gene is involved in the control of a central physiological clock. Also disclosed are four other genes located within the same operon as the gro-1 gene.
