A regenerative heat exchanger for gaseous media which are in a heat exchange with one another includes stationary or rotating storage masses and at least one cleaning device for the storage masses, wherein the cleaning device can be pivoted in relation to the annular cross section of the storage masses from the inside toward the outside or vice versa. The regenerative heat exchanger can be used for the preheating of air as well as for the preheating of gas. The free end of a swivel arm of the cleaning device constructed as a blow tube has a bent portion which extends parallel to the plane of the storage masses and the bent portion is provided with at least two blow nozzles.

Regenerative heat exchanger

A plant for the reduction of nitrogen oxide in furnace waste gases includes a furnace, a reactor serving for selective catalytic reduction, and a regenerative heat exchanger to be used for air preheaters as well as for gas preheaters for the treatment of pollutant-containing waste gases which are in a heat exchange with another medium. The regenerative heat exchanger has stationary or revolving storage masses which are composed at least partially of catalytic material. A reduction agent is supplied to the regenerative heat exchanger. The reactor is arranged concentrically above the regenerative heat exchanger. Preferably, the reactor is placed directly onto the housing of the heat exchanger.

Plant for the reduction of nitrogen oxide in furnace waste gases

A method for a regenerative heat exchanger for the treatment of pollutant-containing waste gases which are in a heat exchange with another medium. The heat exchanger includes stationary or rotating storage masses which are at least partially of catalytic material and to which a reduction agent is supplied from the hot side thereof. A penetration of the reduction agent into the flue gas flow can be prevented by supplying the reduction agent directly to the catalyst separately from the pollutant-containing waste gases and without coming into contact with the remaining heating surfaces. For this purpose, a nozzle arrangement having at least one arm and extending over the entire radius of the heat exchanger may be arranged in both hood sides of the heat exchanger.

Method and apparatus for a regenerative heat exchanger for the treatment

A regenerative heat-exchanger is disclosed which has a rotor mounted in an enclosing housing, with separation zones radially disposed between the heat exchange media and configured as peripheral and radial barrier chambers, and stationary peripheral and radial seals which are arranged on hot and cold sides of the rotor.

Regenerative heat exchanger and method of operating the same

A thrust or journal bearing which is suitable for use in particular in slow-running machines is intended to have as large as possible a bearing surface with a minimum diameter and at the same time to have optimal running properties and long life in normal operation, as well as good emergency running properties in the event of oil deficiency. Here a base body 2, e.g. a ring or a ring sector, bears sliding shoes 3 disposed in a uniform distribution peripherally and radially, on which is supported a plant bearing surface above a supporting film of lubricant. The sliding shoes 3 have an outline at least approximating to that of a square and are located congruently to each other on predetermined pitch circles d.sub.0, d.sub.1, d.sub.2 . . . d.sub.x of the base body 2. The side length of the sliding shoes 3 increases from the interior to the exterior proportionately to the increase in the pitch circle diameter d.sub.0, d.sub.1, d.sub.2 . . . d.sub.x and the adjacent sliding shoes 3 are in each case delimited from each other by fluted or grooved profiles 7, 7', 7'. Two groups 7' and 7' of fluted or grooved profiles 7 run spirally, and the directions of curvature of them are counter to each other. They are preferably in each case in the shape of a logarithmic spiral.

Thrust bearing or axial journal bearing, in particular for slow-running

A heat exchange element for a rotary regenerative heat exchanger has corrugations of a wave-form conformation which include portions, extending between 10% and 50% of the wave length, which are parallel to the direction of flow of medium through the pack. Comparative data are given showing better efficiency in terms of heat-exchange effectiveness versus pressure loss than for apparently analogous prior art elements.

A rotary regenerative air preheater has a preliminary heating stage for the cold air, before it reaches the regenerative mass, constituted by recuperative heating surfaces provided within the ducting which brings the cold air to the regenerative mass and which are heated by exhaust gas which has passed through the regenerative mass but has lost least heat to that mass. The surfaces take e.g. the form of tubes passing through the channel and gas is guided into these tubes by a gas-catching wing extending to close to one face of the regenerative mass. An embodiment of each of a rotating-and a stationary-mass preheater are described.
