A capacitance length and/or angle measuring device has a transducer comprising a stationary part (1) forming a scale and a part (2) displaceable parallel over the surface of the scale, at a short distance therefrom and acting as a sensing unit. The opposite surfaces of the scale and sensing unit are provided with capacitor coatings (5,6,7,8,9). The mechanical quantity to be measured causes an area vibration of a capacitor, the capacitance variation resulting therefrom acting as a variable capacitive reactance in a circuit, which changes the phase position of the electrical signals. With an appropriate configuration of the capacitor surfaces one obtains a linear function between the mechanical quantity to be measured and the phase portion of the signals.

Capacitive displacement measuring device with T-shaped scale coatings

A height measuring device comprises a carriage containing a measuring pin which is moved by a drive motor against an article to be measured in a manner such that the measuring takes place when the pin is held against the article with a precise measuring force. The construction includes a carriage which is supported by an endless belt and moved upwardly and downwardly by driving one of the rollers over which the belt is guided. A ram rod extends through a hollow area of the carriage which is divided by a ring piece into upper and lower chambers, the coil springs are placed around the ram rods in both the upper and lower chambers and are braced between the ring pieces at their one ends and the portion of the carriage which closes each end of the hollow portion of the carriage. The drive motor for moving the carriage is controlled by a control which ensures that the movement for urging the measurement in against the article will always take place at a selected measurement pressure between the pin and the article to be measured.

Height measuring instrument

In a length measuring device with a measuring transducer system, the curve of two sinusoidal test signals is dependent on the longitudinal movement of the measuring transducer system. An interpolation circuit delivers two high-resolution rectangular pulse sequences F1, F2 corresponding to the interpolated sinusoidal voltages and offset by 90.degree., to an evaluating circuit. To achieve a high-resolution at low speeds of travel and a low-resolution at high speeds, two rectangular pulse sequences S1, S2 or G1, G2, offset by 90.degree. and giving a low-resolution, are additionally derived at the interpolation circuit. A control logic circuit 19 monitors the test voltages for attainment of a certain value of the longitudinal movement per unit time or speed of travel. The control logic circuit lets only the low-resolution rectangular pulse sequences through to the evaluating circuit when this value is exceeded, while it lets the high-resolution rectangular pulse sequences with the low-resolution rectangular pulse sequences when this value is not reached.

A sliding caliper comprises a scale having a front end defining a measuring edge, a slide movable over the scale and having a readout display and a measuring tip depending from said scale and having an axis of symmetry passing through the measuring edge.

A device for measuring the position of a member for example, the height thereof comprises a frame with a slide movable on said frame which carries a rigid measuring member. A motor is connected to drive the slide through a constant slip torque clutch connected between the motor and the slide. The clutch is a magnetic field clutch so that it urges the measuring member when it is in a measuring position against the object being measured so as to exert the measuring force thereon.
