The dome wall, the inner liner, and the outer liner, together, at least partially defining a combustion chamber. The set of dilution passages terminating in a plurality of dilution holes arranged in a dilution hole arrangement provided in at least one of the inner liner or the outer liner. The dilution hole arrangement having at least a first subset of dilution holes arranged along a first leg and a second subset of dilution holes arranged along a second leg.

A gas turbine engine includes a steam generating system, and a combustion section having a first combustor and a second combustor in fluid communication with a secondary combustion zone of the first combustor. The second combustor is operable to receive compressor bleed air and fuel, along with steam from the steam generating system. During a non-idle operating state and a power-augmentation operating state, when the steam system is operable, steam is provided to the second combustor and then to the secondary combustion zone of the first combustor. When the steam generating system is inoperable, the fuel and bleed air are provided to the second combustor and combusted, and combustion products are provided to the first combustor. When the steam generating system is partially operable, the steam, the bleed air, and the fuel are provided to the second combustor, and combustion products are provided to the first combustor.

A turbine engine includes a compressor section for providing a compressed air flow, a fuel system for providing a primary combustor fuel supply, and a secondary combustor fuel supply. A turbine section, located downstream of the primary combustor, includes a turbine and a secondary combustor that further combusts the primary combustion products and the fuel from the secondary combustor fuel supply. A steam system provides a steam supply to the secondary combustor. The secondary combustor further combusts the primary combustion products and the secondary combustor fuel supply to generate secondary combustion products, and the turbine section is rotated by the secondary combustor steam supply and the inter-turbine combustion products.

A gas turbine engine includes a compressor section, a combustor section, and a turbine section in fore-to-aft serial flow arrangement and defines an engine centerline. The combustor section includes a combustor liner at least partially defining a combustor chamber and a dome wall, coupled to the combustor liner, and defining a forward end of the combustion chamber. A fuel nozzle is located on the dome wall and fluidly coupled to the combustion chamber. A first set of compressed air openings emit compressed air into the combustion chamber along a first flow path and a second set of compressed air openings emit compressed air into the combustion chamber along a second flow path. The first and second flow paths intersect at an intersection point to form a sheet of air.

The pilot mixer injects a pilot mixer fuel-air mixture axially into the main combustion chamber and generates a first recirculation zone within the main combustion chamber. A plurality of second mixing assemblies are disposed at the secondary combustion chamber axially aft of the first mixing assemblies and include a main mixer. The main mixer injects a main mixer fuel-air mixture into the secondary combustion chamber to produce combustion gases and to generate a second recirculation zone within the secondary combustion chamber axially aft of the first recirculation zone. The secondary combustion chamber injects the combustion gases into the main combustion chamber.

A Brayton cycle engine and method for operation. The engine includes an inner wall assembly and an upstream wall assembly each extended from a longitudinal wall into a gas flowpath. An actuator adjusts a depth of the detonation combustion region into the gas flowpath between the inner wall assembly and the upstream wall assembly. The engine flows an oxidizer through the gas flowpath and the inner wall captures a portion of the oxidizer. The engine further adjusts the captured flow of oxidizer via the upstream wall and flows a first flow of fuel to the captured flow of oxidizer to produce rotating detonation gases. The engine flows the detonation gases downstream and to mix with the flow of oxidizer, and flows and burns a second flow of fuel to the detonation gases/oxidizer mixture to produce thrust.
