An electron emission device includes a substrate, cathode electrodes formed on the substrate, electron emission regions electrically coupled to the cathode electrodes, an insulation layer formed on the substrate while covering the cathode electrodes, and gate electrodes formed on the insulation layer and crossing the cathode electrodes. One or more gate holes are formed at each of crossing regions of the gate electrodes and the cathode electrodes through the insulation layer and the gate electrodes. At least one of the cathode electrodes includes at least two openings divided by a bridge. The at least two openings divided by the bridge are formed on each exposed region of the cathode electrodes through the gate holes. A corresponding one of the electron emission regions contacts the bridge and extends toward the walls of at least one of the openings but is spaced away from the cathode electrodes.

Electron emission device and electron emission display using the electron emission device

An electron emission device and display including the same include a substrate; a cathode electrode including a first electrode portion formed on the substrate and having opening portions, and second electrode portions placed within respective ones of the opening portions such that the second electrodes are separated from the first electrode; a resistance layer electrically interconnecting the first electrode portion and the second electrode portions of the cathode electrode; and electron emission regions electrically connected to the second electrode portions. A width of the second electrode portions or of the resistance layer between the first and second electrode portions varies along a longitudinal direction of the cathode electrode.

Electron emission device and electron emission display having the same

An electron emission device includes: a substrate; first and second electrodes insulated from each other and arranged on the substrate and having predetermined shapes; an electron emission region arranged on the substrate; and a first passivation layer entirely covering at least one of the first and second electrodes and exposing at least a portion of the electron emission region. An electron emission display includes: first and second substrates opposed to each other; first and second electrodes insulated from each other and arranged transversely to each other on the first substrate and having predetermined shapes; an electron emission region arranged on the substrate; a first passivation layer entirely covering at least one of the first and second electrodes and exposing at least a portion of the electron emission region; and an image display substrate having an anode electrode and a fluorescent layer arranged on the second substrate.
