The present disclosure pertains to a recombinantstrain for production of glutaric acid and a method for production of glutaric acid by using the same. When used to produce glutaric acid, the recombinantstrain guarantees an excellent output and allows the selective production of glutaric acid without generation of byproducts, which needs no isolation and purification processes and thus leads to an economical benefit. Consequently, the recombinant strain is useful for production of glutaric acid.

The present invention relates to a recombinant microorganism to which a gene coding for 2-hydroxyisocaproate-CoA transferase and a gene coding for polyhydroxyalkanoate synthase are introduced and which has a potential of producing polyhydroxyalkanoate bearing an aromatic monomer or a long-chain 2-HA monomer and a method for producing polyhydroxyalkanoate bearing an aromatic monomer or a long-chain 2-HA monomer, using the recombinant microorganism. A mutant capable of producing 1,4-butanediol and a method of preparing 1,4-butanediol using the same are provided. The mutant microorganism is prepared by introducing and amplifying genes encoding enzymes converting succinate into 4-hydroxybutyrate and 4-hydroxybutyrate into 1,4-butanediol in a microorganism capable of producing succinate. The method includes culturing the mutant in a medium containing carbohydrate and obtaining 1,4-butanediol from the culture. Thus, 1,4-butanediol, which is essential in chemical industry, can be prepared in a biological process.

A method of synthesizing optically-active (S)-3-hydroxybutyric acid and (S)-3-hydroxybutyrate ester using a mutated microorganism is provided. More particularly, a mutated microorganism for preparing (S)-3-hydroxybutyric acid transformed with a gene encoding &#x3b2;-ketothiolase, a gene encoding (S)-3-hydroxybutyryl CoA dehydrogenase and a gene encoding acyl CoA hydrolase; a method of preparing (S)-3-hydroxybutyric acid using the mutated microorganism; a mutated microorganism for preparing (S)-3-hydroxybutyrate ester transformed with a gene encoding &#x3b2;-ketothiolase, a gene encoding (S)-3-hydroxybutyryl CoA dehydrogenase, a gene encoding acyl CoA hydrolase and a gene encoding lipase; and a method of preparing (S)-3-hydroxybutyrate ester using the mutated microorganism are provided. Accordingly, (S)-3-hydroxybutyric acid with high optical purity may be produced from acetyl CoA produced in glycolysis of a microorganism by a simple process involving the manipulation of a metabolic pathway by a recombinant gene introduced into the microorganism without using a high-cost metal catalyst or a substrate. Further, (S)-3-hydroxybutyrate ester and lactone of (S)-3-hydroxybutyrate ester may be simply produced from (S)-3-hydroxybutyric acid produced by the above method using lipase.

Preparing method for (S)-3hydroxybutyric acid and (S)-3 hydroxybutyrate ester using recombinant microorganism

The present invention relates to an expression vector which can effectively express target proteins or peptides on the surface of cells using an outer membrane protein (FadL) ofas a surface anchoring motif. Also, the present invention relates to microorganisms transformed with the expression vector, and a method for stably expressing large amounts of target proteins on the surface of cells by culturing the transformed microorganisms. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a production method of protein arrays, a production method of antibodies, and a bioconversion method, the methods being characterized by using target proteins which have been expressed on the cell surface by the inventive method. In addition, the present invention relates to a method for improving target proteins by the inventive surface expression method. The present invention allows target proteins with normal functions to be expressed on an outer cell membrane. Thus, the present invention will be useful in recombinant live vaccines, the screening of various peptides or antibodies, whole-cell adsorbents for heavy metal removal or waste water treatment, whole-cell bioconversion, and the like.
