A photographing device includes a main body, a first video capturing unit, a second video capturing unit and a rotatable electrical connection portion. The first video capturing unit is disposed on the main body, a center of a first video capturing range of the first video capturing unit is located on a first axis. The second video capturing unit is rotatable about the first axis to be pivoted on the main body, the second video capturing unit and the first axis are separated by a distance. A second video capturing range of the second video capturing unit overlaps the first axis. The rotatable electrical connection portion includes a first and a second connection component pivoted and connected to each other. The second video capturing unit is disposed on and connected to the first connection component. The second connection component is disposed on and connected to the main body.

A method for motion estimation in video coding. The row containing a motion vector predictor is determined as a P-th row and the rows adjacent to the P-th row are the (P+1)-th row and the (P&#x2212;1)-th row. The method includes the following steps: (a) calculating of the distortions corresponding to all points in the P-th, (P+1)-th, and (P&#x2212;1)-th rows respectively; (b) comparing all distortions, (c) determining whether or not the point with a minimum distortion is in the P-th row, and if yes, the method proceeds to step (g); (d) determining whether or not the point with a minimum distortion is in the (P+1)-th row, and if yes, the method proceeds to step (f); (e) decreasing P by 1, calculating the corresponding distortions of all points in the (P&#x2212;1)-th row respectively, and repeating step (b); (f) increasing P by 1, calculating the corresponding distortions of all points in the (P+1)-th row respectively, and repeating step (b); and (g) determining a corresponding motion vector from the point with a minimum distortion.

Method for motion estimation in video coding

A method for motion estimation for use in video coding. In a predetermined search region, three starting rows are chosen, wherein a given prediction point is on the middle row, the N-th row. The method includes the following steps. (a) All points of the (N&minus;2)-th, N-th, and (N&plus;2)-th rows are chosen as checking points. (b) Block match errors for the checking points are calculated and a checking point which corresponds to a minimum block match error is defined as a candidate checking point. (c) A determination is made whether the candidate checking point is on the N-th row; if so, the method proceeds to step (g); otherwise, it proceeds to step (d). (d) It is determined that whether the candidate checking point is on the (N&plus;2)-th row; if so, the method proceeds to step (e); otherwise, it proceeds to step (f). (e) N is incremented by two, all points of the (N&plus;2)-th row are chosen as checking points, and step (b) is repeated. (f) N is decremented by two, all points of the (N&minus;2)-th row are chosen as checking points, and step (b) is repeated. (g) All points of the (N&minus;1)-th and (N&plus;1)-th rows are chosen as checking points, block match errors for the checking points are calculated, and a checking point corresponding to the minimum block match error is defined as the candidate checking point, wherein the candidate checking point is used for determining the motion vector for video coding.
