According to one embodiment, there is provided herein a system and method for producing a well lifecycle lift plan that includes considerations of multiple types of lift, multiple lift configurations associated with each lift type, and can be used to provide a prediction of when or if it would be desirable to change the lift plan at some time in the future. Another embodiment utilizes a heuristic database with rules that might be used to limit the solution space in some instances by restricting the solution to feasible configurations. A further embodiment teaches how multiple individual well optimization results might be combined with a reservoir model to obtain an optimized lift schedule for an entire field.

System and method for well artificial lift lifecycle planning

A centrifugal separator includes an outer tube, an inner tube, an outlet pipe, and a control mechanism. The outer tube defines at least one outer tube inlet and at least one outer tube outlet. The inner tube is disposed within the outer tube. The inner tube is configured to separate the flow of a first fluid into the flow of a second fluid and a flow of a third fluid by rotation thereof. The outlet pipe is partially disposed within the inner tube and the outer tube. The outlet pipe includes a cross-sectional area. The outlet pipe is configured to channel the flow of the third fluid out of the inner tube and the outer tube. The control mechanism is coupled to the outlet pipe. The control mechanism is configured to regulate the flow of the third fluid by changing the cross-sectional area of the outlet pipe.

System and method for a centrifugal downhole oil-water separator

Data characterizing a load on a rod of a down-hole pump at different positions of a stroke of the rod can be received. An image characterizing the load of the rod at the different positions of the stroke can be determined. A defect in operating conditions of the down-hole pump can be determined. The determining can include comparing the image to a set of predetermined images with associated defects. The determined defect can be provided.

Pattern matching to detect defects in rod lift downhole cards

A controller for operating a prime mover of a rod pumping unit includes a processor configured to operate the prime mover over a first stroke and a second stroke. The controller is further configured to compute a first motor torque imbalance value for the first stroke and engage adjustment of a counter-balance. The controller is further configured to estimate a second motor torque imbalance value for the second stroke. The controller is further configured to disengage adjustment of the counter-balance during the second stroke upon the second motor torque imbalance value reaching a first imbalance range.

Rod pumping unit and method of operation

A system for enhancing a flow of a fluid induced by a rod pumping unit is provided. The system includes one or more sensors and a pumping control unit configured to control stroke movement of the rod pumping unit. The pumping control unit is configured to: (a) initiate at least one stroke of the rod pumping unit; (b) receive sensor data from the one or more sensors; (c) upon determination of a violation of a first set of constraints, make a first adjustment to the current stroke timing, and return to step (a); (d) upon determination of a violation of a second set of constraints, make a second adjustment to the current stroke timing, and return to step (a); and (e) upon determination of no violation of at least one set of constraints make a third adjustment to the current stroke timing, and return to step (a).

Methods and system for enhancing flow of a fluid induced by a rod pumping unit

A controller for operating a rod pumping unit includes a processor configured to operate the rod pumping unit at a pumping profile speed. The processor is further configured to compute a first downhole dynamometer card from surface measurements at the rod pumping unit. The processor is further configured to compute a second downhole dynamometer card from the surface measurements. The processor is further configured to validate at least one of the first downhole dynamometer card and the second downhole dynamometer card based on a rod pumping unit condition.

Controller for a rod pumping unit and method of operation

A surface-based separation assembly for use in separating fluid. The surface-based separation assembly includes a gas-liquid separator configured to receive a fluid stream, and configured to separate the fluid stream into a gas stream and a mixed stream of at least two liquids. A liquid-liquid separator is in flow communication with the gas-liquid separator. The liquid-liquid separator is configured to receive the mixed stream from the gas-liquid separator, and is configured to separate the mixed stream into a first liquid stream and a second liquid stream. The assembly further includes a rotatable shaft including a first portion extending through the gas-liquid separator, and a second portion extending through the liquid-liquid separator. The rotatable shaft is configured to induce actuation of the gas-liquid separator and the liquid-liquid separator.

Monitoring multiple industrial machines

A pumping control unit is disclosed herein. The pumping control unit includes a processor coupled to a memory and a communication interface. The memory is configured to store an invariant matrix. The communication interface is configured to receive a plurality of measurements of a time-varying parameter for a rod pumping unit. The plurality of measurements is taken at a surface of a pumping site over a pump cycle for a sucker rod string. The processor is configured to gain access to the invariant matrix in the memory and the plurality of measurements from the communication interface. The processor is further configured to compute a Fourier coefficient array based on the invariant matrix and the plurality of measurements. The processor is further configured to compute a time-varying downhole parameter based on the Fourier coefficient array and a sucker rod string model.

A system includes a downhole separator, a first pump, a second pump, a surface separator, a first tube, and a second tube. The downhole separator is disposed within a first wellbore of a well-pad and configured to generate hydrocarbon stream and water stream from a first production fluid received from first production zone. First pump is disposed within first wellbore and second pump is disposed within a second wellbore of the well-pad. The surface separator is coupled to first and second pumps and configured to receive hydrocarbon stream from downhole separator, using first pump and a second production fluid from second production zone, using second pump and generate oil and water rich stream. First tube is coupled to downhole separator and configured to dispose water stream in a first disposal zone. Second tube is coupled to surface separator and configured to dispose water rich stream in a second disposal zone.

System and method for disposal of water produced from a plurality of wells of a well-pad

A control system for a rod pumping unit is disclosed herein. The control system includes a memory device, a sensor, and a processor. The memory device is configured to store a velocity profile for controlling a sucker rod string of the rod pumping unit. The sensor is configured to take measurements for determining surface load of the sucker rod string. The processor is configured to gain access to the memory device and the velocity profile. The processor is further configured to determine a reference force. The processor is further configured to receive a measurement from the sensor and determine the surface load. The processor is further configured to compute a desired velocity for commanding the rod pumping unit. The desired velocity is computed based on a reference velocity from the velocity profile, the reference force, and the surface load.

Control system and method of controlling a rod pumping unit

A liquid pumping system comprises a plurality of liquid pumps and a hydraulic drive unit. Each liquid pump is driven by a separate hydraulic cylinder. The hydraulic cylinders are powered by a shared hydraulic pump through a valve set. A valve set controller is configured to operate the valve set. A liquid pumping process comprises distributing an initial flow of pressurized hydraulic fluid between the hydraulic cylinders. The hydraulic cylinders move through a cycle in a phased relationship to provide a constant sum of flow rates from the liquid pumps. A membrane filtration system combines the liquid pumping system with a membrane unit. In a water treating process, feed water is pumped through the membrane unit. Brine from the membrane unit is returned to each liquid pump while that liquid pump is feeding water to the membrane unit.

Hydraulic control system for a reverse osmosis hydraulic pump

A system for enhancing a flow of a fluid induced by a rod pumping unit is provided. A pumping control unit is configured to control stroke movement of the rod pumping unit. The pumping control unit is configured to store a first set of stroke timing data based on a first pressure level and a second set of stroke timing data based on a second pressure level, store a set of pressure weights, and receive a current pressure level. The current pressure level is between the first pressure level and the second pressure level. The pumping control unit is also configured to determine a current set of stroke timing data based on the current pressure level, the first set of stroke timing, the second set of stroke timing, and the set of pressure weights, and initiate at least one stroke of the rod pumping unit.

The apparatus includes at least one inlet for receiving the emulsion, at least one outlet for discharging the emulsion after coalescing the dispersed phase, and at least one article disposed between the inlet and the outlet. The article includes a plurality of regions disposed on a surface in a predefined pattern, wherein a portion of the plurality of regions is substantially wetting with respect to the dispersed phase, and a portion of the plurality of regions is substantially non-wetting with respect to the dispersed phase, and wherein the pattern includes a plurality of inter-connected regions that are substantially non-wetting with respect to the dispersed phase. Article and apparatus for enhancing the coalescence of a dispersed phase from a continuous phase in an emulsion

A method includes driving a fluid pumping unit having a plurality of pumping cylinders via a plurality of hydraulic cylinders respectively of a hydraulic power unit. The method further includes controlling activation of the hydraulic power unit such that each stroke of the corresponding piston assembly between the top dead center and the bottom dead center follows a corresponding trapezoidal velocity profile with respect to a time duration. Controlling activation includes controlling flow of a hydraulic fluid in the hydraulic power unit so as to control the corresponding trapezoidal velocity profile with respect to the time duration of the corresponding piston assembly to obtain a predefined flow rate of the fluid medium from the pumping unit.
