An ultrasound system includes a processor circuit that receives an ultrasound image obtained according to a set of ultrasound system settings. The processor circuit determines a quality index representative of the visibility of an anatomical feature for the ultrasound image. In response to determining that the quality index does not meet or exceed a threshold quality index, the processor circuit may provide an output for a new set of ultrasound system settings corresponding to an improvement in quality index. The processor circuit then receives an additional ultrasound image corresponding to the new ultrasound system settings, determines an additional quality index for the additional ultrasound image, determines that the quality index exceeds the threshold quality index, and records the additional ultrasound image.

Completeness of view of anatomy in ultrasound imaging and associated systems, devices, and methods

A lung injury monitoring system () configured to monitor a patient's lungs during ventilation, comprising: an ultrasound device () configured to obtain an ultrasound image of the patient's lungs during ventilation of the patient; a processor () configured to: (i) receive the obtained ultrasound image; (ii) determine a ventilation phase of the ventilator; (iii) analyze the received ultrasound image; and (iv) determine a risk score for a potential ventilator-associated lung injury (VALI); and a user interface () configured to display the determined risk score for the potential VALI.

Methods and systems for ventilation management using lung ultrasound

A method and system is for assisting a user in positioning an ultrasound probe relative to a subject's body. In use, the user moves the probe through a series of positions, and ultrasound image data is captured for each position, the data at each position corresponding to a particular imaging view of the anatomical region being imaged. An assessment procedure () is operable to process ultrasound data for different imaging views, and to determine for the data for each view a rating, representative of the suitability of the data for that view for observing one or more anatomical features or deriving one or more clinical parameters from the data. Guidance feedback is generated () for the user for assisting the user in positioning the probe, wherein the guidance feedback is based on a history () of image view quality over time over the course of the imaging procedure. For example, a trend in image view quality over time may be determined and output to a user, from which the user can quickly tell whether they are moving toward (in the case of increasing quality) or away from (decreasing quality) an optimum imaging position.

Ultrasound guidance method and system

A system for localizing a three-dimensional field of view of a beamforming ultrasound imaging probe based on a position indicator disposed within said field of view. The beamforming ultrasound imaging probe transmits and receives ultrasound signals within a three-dimensional field of view comprising a plurality of predetermined sub-volumes, each sub-volume being defined by a two dimensional array of beams. A controller causes the beamforming ultrasound imaging probe to scan the sub-volumes sequentially by transmitting and receiving ultrasound signals corresponding to each beam. A tracking system determines a position of the position indicator within the three-dimensional field of view; and determines a sub-volume in which the position indicator is located. The controller causes the beamforming ultrasound imaging probe to provide a localized field of view including the position of the position indicator by constraining the transmitting and receiving of ultrasound signals to a portion of the sub-volume in which the position indicator is located.

An acoustic imaging apparatus and method receive a sensor signal from a passive sensor disposed on a surface of an intervention device which is disposed in an area of interest, wherein the passive sensor is located at a fixed distance from the tip of the intervention device. A processor is configured to ascertain an estimated range of locations of the tip of the intervention device in an image plane by using the sensor signal and an estimated effective distance, projected onto the image plane, from the passive sensor to the tip of the intervention device.

Passive-ultrasound-sensor-based initialization for image-based device segmentation

A method for tracking an interventional medical device in a patient includes interleaving, by an imaging probe external to the patient, a pulse sequence of imaging beams and tracking beams to obtain an interleaved pulse sequence. The method also includes transmitting, from the imaging probe to the interventional medical device in the patient, the interleaved pulse sequence. The method further includes determining, based on a response to the tracking beams received from a sensor on the interventional medical device, a location of the sensor in the patient.

Ultrasound image devices, systems, and methods are provided. An ultrasound imaging system includes a communication interface in communication with an ultrasound imaging device. The communication interface receives an ultrasound image of a subject's anatomy. The system includes a processor in communication with the communication interface. The processor applies a predictive network to the ultrasound image to identify a plurality of locations of potential malignancies in the subjects anatomy and determines a plurality of malignancy likelihoods at the plurality of locations of potential malignancies. The processor outputs, to a display in communication with the processor, the plurality of locations of potential malignancies and the plurality of malignancy likelihoods for the plurality of locations of potential malignancies to guide a biopsy determination for the subject's anatomy.

Biopsy prediction and guidance with ultrasound imaging and associated devices, systems, and methods

A controller for reducing noise in an ultrasound environment includes memory that stores instructions; and a processor that executes the instructions. When executed by the processor, the instructions cause the controller to execute a process that includes controlling emission, by an ultrasound probe, of multiple beams each at a different combination of time of emission and angle of emission relative to the ultrasound probe. The process also includes identifying repetitive noise from a first source received with the imaging beams at a sensor on an interventional medical device, including a rate at which the repetitive noise from the first source repeats and times at which the repetitive noise from the first source is received. The process also includes interpolating signals based on the imaging beams received at the sensor to offset the repetitive noise from the first source at the times at which the repetitive noise from the first source is received.
