A method, computer system, and a computer program product for calculating bandwidth requirements is provided. The present invention may include receiving a recovery point objective (RPO). The present invention may also include simulating, using a virtual disk, a set of inter-site data transfers between a first data storage controller and a second data storage controller, wherein the second data storage controller is modelled by the virtual disk. The present invention may then include collecting a set of data correlating to a set of bandwidth factors, based on the simulated set of inter-site data transfers. The present invention may further include calculating, using the virtual disk, a bandwidth required for data replication for disaster recovery, based, at least in part, on the set of bandwidth factors and the RPO.

Calculating bandwidth requirements for a specified recovery point objective

Apparatuses, methods, systems, and program products are disclosed for cluster configuration backup and recovery. One method includes receiving, by use of a processor, configuration data for a cluster. The method includes storing the configuration data for the cluster. The method also includes forming a machine-readable code that corresponds to the stored configuration data for the cluster. The machine-readable code may be used for restoring the stored configuration data to the cluster.

Apparatus, method, and program product for cluster configuration data backup and recovery

Embodiments for optimizing connectivity in a storage system by a processor. A preferred connectivity path may be determined between a host and a storage controller via one or more selected nodes, one or more storage virtualization systems, or combination thereof. A current connectivity path between the host and the storage controller may be determined to fail to match the preferred connectivity path. The host may be triggered to reconnect to the storage controller via the preferred connectivity path to enhance connectivity to between the host and the storage controller.

Optimizing connectivity in a storage system data

Methods and systems for storage network tiering are provided. One method includes receiving input/output (I/O) requests from a set of client devices via one of a plurality of communication paths and performing I/O operations on data in one or more storage devices based on corresponding I/O requests. The method further includes determining locations storing each data set in the one or more storage devices and transmitting, to the set of client devices, recommendations of a communication path in the plurality of communication paths for transmitting subsequent I/O requests that access a particular data set based on the location storing the particular data set. A computer-implemented method, according to one embodiment, includes: receiving an unmap command which corresponds to a first logical extent located in a higher storage tier, unmapping the first logical extent from a first physical storage location in the higher storage tier, marking the first physical storage location as dirty, receiving a map command which corresponds to the first logical extent, determining whether the first physical storage location is still marked as dirty, in response to determining that the first physical storage location is still marked as dirty, determining whether any data included in the first logical extent has been modified since the first logical extent was stored in the higher storage tier, and in response to determining that at least some of the data included in the first logical extent has been modified, using the modified data to update the data stored in the first physical storage location.
