A video tape recorder includes a cylinder provided to rotate about its axis. A magnetic tape moves along a portion of the cylinder surface such that the cylinder surface obliquely traverses the magnetic tape. At least one pair of magnetic heads are mounted on the cylinder surface for recording and reproducing video signal on the tape, and another pair of magnetic heads are mounted on the cylinder for recording and reproducing audio signal on the tape.

Helical scan recording/reproducing device for simultaneously helically

A signal processing system for absorbing asynchronism between a video signal and an audio signal which is caused when a PCM audio signal is to be recorded together with the video signal on a helical scan-type tape recorder. When the video signal and the audio signal are recorded on the same track, a recording band width of the audio signal should be narrow. A sample pattern is provided which assures rapid pull-in for both data clock reproduction and carrier reproduction, when the audio signal is modulated by QPSK or when Q-QPSK modulation is used.

Apparatus for recording/reproducing a digital audio signal with a video

A recording and reproducing apparatus includes three groups of magnetic heads. A sound signal is converted into a corresponding frequency-modulated signal and is also converted into a corresponding digital signal. The frequency-modulated sound signal is recorded into and reproduced from a magnetic tape via the first group of magnetic heads. The digital sound signal is converted into a corresponding quadrature phase shift keying signal. The quadrature phase shift keying sound signal is recorded into and reproduced from the magnetic tape via the second group of magnetic heads. A video signal is recorded into and reproduced from the magnetic tape via the third group of magnetic heads.

Magnetic recording apparatus for recording video and two kinds of audio

In a rotary head magnetic recording and reproducing system of a helical-scan type for successively recording and reproducing audio signals in and from record patterns on a magnetic tape, which record patterns are inclined relative to the longitudinal direction of the magnetic tape, by a magnetic head provided on a rotary cylinder, during the successive reproduction of the record patterns by the magnetic head, in order to prevent noise from being contained in a reproduced audio signal, which noise is caused by the switching of the record patterns to be reproduced or by the occurrence of a dropout in the reproduced signal, an audio signal is divided into two discrete signals which have a phase difference therebetween and are transmitted respectively on two separate transmission paths, and two hold circuits, each of which is arranged in one of the two transmission paths, are put into operation in synchronism with the switching of the record patterns or the occurrence of the dropout in the reproduced signal, and output signals of the two hold circuits are added together thereby to reduce noise contained in the reproduced output audio signal.
