A vehicular steering apparatus includes a column bracket secured to a steering column; and a fixing bracket secured to a vehicle body. The column bracket includes a top plate and a pair of side plates. The fixing bracket supports the column bracket via a support shaft. A support-shaft through hole formed in each of the side plates of the column bracket includes a slot extended along a longitudinal direction of the steering column. A resilient member is interposed between the top plate of the column bracket and a confronting portion of the support shaft. The resilient member biases the support shaft along a predetermined biasing direction to restrict play of the support shaft in the slot.

Vehicular steering apparatus

A shock absorbing type steering device decreases variations in press fitting loads corresponding to a friction force between two columns. A shock can be appropriately absorbed by relative movements of the two columns in an axial direction. At least one of a first column and a second column press fitted into an opening at one end of the first column is formed with swaged parts on a peripheral wall thereof at a plurality of positions having intervals in a circumferential direction of the column, respectively at a plurality of positions having intervals in an axial direction of the column. Positions of tip ends of the swaged parts are different between a group of swaged parts near the opening at the end of the first column and other groups remote from the opening.

Shock absorbing type steering device for vehicles and method of producing the same

An extendable shaft includes a first and a second shaft sections aligned on the same axis. External splines on an outer periphery of the first shaft section engage external splines on an inner periphery of the second shaft section. The first shaft section includes a slit extended from an opening end thereof for a predetermined length along an axial direction. A diametrically contractible portion adapted for elastic reduction in diameter is provided in a region ranging from the opening end of the first shaft section to place away therefrom by the predetermined length along the axial direction. A thin-wall portion is formed in a part of the diametrically contractible portion. A clamping member elastically clamps the diametrically contractible portion.

Extendable shaft

A collapsible telescopic steering apparatus includes a steering column having an outer tube and an inner tube. The tubes can be switched between a press-fit state and a loose-fit state. The position of a steering wheel is adjusted by way of relative sliding movement of the loose-fitted tubes along an axial direction thereof. A shock absorbing projection is provided on at least one of an inner periphery of the outer tube and an outer periphery of the inner tube, as confronting to the counterpart tube. The shock absorbing projection is normally spaced away from the counterpart tube but is deformed as pressed against the counterpart tube in association with relative sliding movement of the press-fitted tubes upon collision, thereby absorbing the shock of the collision.

Collapsible telescopic steering apparatus

A collapsible telescopic steering apparatus comprises a steering column having an inner tube and an outer tube which are engaged with each other. The engagement state of the tubes is switchable between a press-fit state and a loose-fit state. Upon vehicle collision, the tubes in the press-fit state are slid relative to each other for shock absorption. For telescopic adjustment, the tubes in the loose-fit state are slid relative to each other to adjust the fore-and-aft position of a steering wheel.

Disclosed is an electric power steering apparatus in which an electric motor for producing a steering assist force is provided in a steering column. Vibration from the electric motor is transmitted to a member such as a knee protector, for example, supported on the steering column through a bracket. A dynamic damper for restraining resonance of the member to which the vibration is transmitted is provided in the bracket.

A torque transmission device of a four-wheel drive vehicle having a pair of drive shafts includes a hydraulic pump for transmitting torque to both drive shafts through a variable oil pressure generated therein according to the difference in rotational speed between both drive shafts, and a multiple disc clutch for transmitting torque to both drive shafts by a frictional coupling power. The hydraulic pump has a casing and a rotor housed therein. The casing is rotated by one of the drive shafts. The rotor is rotated by the other drive shaft through a transmitting member, a hydraulic piston mechanism and a rotary sleeve. The transmitting member has a clutch operating portion for operating the clutch. When the transmitted torque exceeds a predetermined level, the hydraulic piston mechanism is adapted to move the transmitting member to operate the multiple disc clutch with no intermediary of the casing.

Torque transmission device of a four-wheel drive vehicle

A torque transmission device of a four-wheel drive vehicle having a pair of drive shafts includes a hydraulic pump for transmitting torque to both drive shafts through a variable oil pressure generated therein according to the difference in rotational speed between both drive shafts, and a multiple disc clutch for transmitting torque to both drive shafts by a frictional coupling power. The hydraulic pump has a casing and a rotor housed therein. The casing is rotated by one of the drive shafts. The rotor is rotated by the other drive shaft through a transmitting member, a cam mechanism and a rotary sleeve. The transmitting member has a clutch operating portion for operating the clutch. A power transmission apparatus for vehicles for transmitting a driving force by coupling an input shaft and an output shaft of a hydraulic pump to respective driving shafts of front and rear wheels of a four-wheel drive vehicle, wherein a throttle member which is located on the axis of a rotor and a casing interlocking respectively with the input and output shafts, rotated with interlocking with one of the rotor and casing and disposed movably along the axis to change the hydraulic fluid discharge passage area of the hydraulic pump responsive to its movement, and a driving unit which includes a magnetic member coupled coaxially to the throttle member and a coil installed around the magnetic member and supported nonrotatably, and moves the throttle member by movement of the magnetic member in connection with excitation of the coil are provided.

Power transmission apparatus for vehicle

A hydraulic transmission coupling apparatus which is used instead of a center differential or a viscous coupling being usually mounted between a front wheel drive shaft and a rear wheel drive shaft of a four-wheel drive vehicle, and transmits driving force existing between the two shafts. The hydraulic transmission coupling apparatus is provided with a vane-type hydraulic pump which generates hydraulic pressure corresponding to a relative rotation speed difference of the two drive shafts and a variable throttle valve being disposed in the passage connecting a discharge port of the hydraulic pump with a tank, whose opening area varies according to the hydraulic pressure generated by the hydraulic pump, thereby driving force to be transmitted being increased or decreased steeply as the rotation speed difference becomes larger.

Hydraulic transmission coupling apparatus

In a drive coupling unit suitable for use in an four-wheel drive unit for motor vehicles of the type wherein a torque is transmitted via a fluid pressure produced depending on a difference in rotational speed between two rotating shafts, each working fluid supply passage and a corresponding check valve disposed therein are arranged to interconnect one of two intake/discharge ports in each respective pump chamber with a tank in which a working fluid is retained. With this construction, an improved response characteristic of the check valves and a substantial reduction of the overall size of the drive coupling unit can be attained.
