A joint structure of a manipulator includes: swiveling members that are coupled so as to be able to swivel via a rolling contact; shafts that constitute bending joints between the swiveling members and that are parallel to each other; pulleys that are rotatably supported about the shafts; and a connector attached to the shafts so as to be able to swivel about longitudinal axes of the shafts. The connector includes supports that are disposed on axial ends of the shafts so as to sandwich the pulleys therebetween in a direction of the longitudinal axis, and a beam that extends in between the supports to couple the supports to each other.

Manipulator and joint structure thereof

A medical treatment tool includes an elongated insertion section; a grasper supported by a distal end of the insertion section so as to be openable and closable; a generator disposed at a proximal end of the insertion section and generating a force to drive the grasper; a transmitter transmitting the force generated by the generator to the distal end of the insertion section; an amplifier amplifying the force transmitted through the transmitter; and a toggle amplifying and converting the force amplified by the amplifier into a force directed to open or close the grasper.

In order to prevent swiveling of unintended joint pieces and enhance positioning and motion reproducibility of a distal end portion, a bending mechanism includes: a plurality of joint pieces connected in series along the longitudinal axis; a plurality of elongated tension-transmissions that transmit tensions for individually driving the joint pieces; and at least one guide having guide channels that movably support the tension-transmissions in the longitudinal direction thereof and that guide the tension-transmissions along curved paths extending around the longitudinal axis.

A gripping mechanism according to the present invention is provided with: two gripping pieces pivoted about a pivoting axis; a gripper main body that supports the gripping pieces at a distal-end portion; a pulley that is supported about a rotation axis that is parallel to the pivoting axis; an opening wire that is wound around the pulley that has one end secured to the gripping pieces or the gripper main body, and that causes tensile forces that cause the rotation axis to be moved in one direction pulley, wherein the pulley is disposed so that a resultant force of the tensile forces in the opening wire that acts on the rotation axis becomes greater than the pulling force, and so that a moment that causes the gripping pieces to be pivoted in the directions in which the gripping pieces are opened relative to each other is generated.

A surgical tool includes: a treatment section that treats an object to be treated; a power source that generates a power to operate the treatment section; a traction section connected to the treatment section and the power source; a switching section that switches a transmission state of the power from the power source to the traction section between a state in which the power can be transmitted and a state in which the power cannot be transmitted; and a tension-applying section that has a pulley and applies a predetermined initial tension to the traction section by applying a power to the pulley in the state in which the power cannot be transmitted, wherein the traction section is hung on the pulley via the power source from the treatment section and is connected to the treatment section via the power source.

A surgical instrument has a treatment section, a first pulling section and a second pulling section configured to transmit a pulling force to the treatment section, a power source configured to generate force for operating the treatment section, and a switching section having a first path configured to transmit the force from the power source to the first pulling member and a second path configured to transmit the force from the power source to the second pulling member and configured to switch the first path and the second path.

A treatment-tool driving device being attached to a treatment tool provided with at least one pair of tensile-force transmitting members and driving the treatment tool by tensile forces imparted to the tensile-force transmitting members, wherein the device includes: movable members being individually attached to one ends of the individual tensile-force transmitting members; a driving source generating a motive power with which the treatment tool is driven; a motive-power transmitting mechanism switching between coupling and decoupling between the driving source and the movable members, and transmitting, in a coupled state, the motive power from the driving source so as to selectively impart tensile forces to the two movable members attached to the paired tensile-force transmitting members; and a biasing portion biasing the two movable members in directions in which tensile forces are imparted to the tensile-force transmitting members in a state in which coupling by the motive-power transmitting mechanism is released.
