An apparatus and process for forming at least one electrode of an electronic component includes the steps of preparing a work; placing a mask on a principal plane of the work; and applying an electrode material over the mask onto the principal plane of the work to form at least one electrode. The mask preferably comprises, for instance, a first masking portion having a substantially rectangular loop shape and a second masking portion having a substantially rectangular shape, and four pseudo masking portions shaped into substantially rectangular strips and which support the first masking portion. In this case, four through holes are formed in the masking member by the synergistic function of the first masking portion, the second masking portion, and the pseudo masking portions.

Apparatus and process for forming electrodes of electronic components

An electrode for an electronic component includes a nickel-chrome alloy layer located on an surface of the electronic component, and a copper layer located on the nickel-chrome alloy layer. The electrode can be adapted to be used as a vibrating electrode of a piezoelectric device.

In a magnetic head of the metal-in-gap type, a magnetic metal layer provided in a magnetic gap comprises a plurality of thin film layers. Of the thin film layers, one which is located on the side of the magnetic gap is formed by use of a material having a comparatively higher saturation magnetic flux density whereas one which is located on the side of facing the magnetic core is formed by use of a material having a comparatively lower saturation magnetic flux density. Magnetic recording efficiency can be thereby enhanced, without a considerable increase in the thickness of the magnetic metal layer provided in the magnetic gap.

Metal-in-gap head with double metal layer

A magnetic head of the metal-in-gap type is provided with improved recording characteristics accomplished by increasing the thickness of the thin film layer(s) in a magnetic gap. This magnetic head has several thin film layers and an intermediate layer made of a non-magnetic metal, such as chrome or titanium, interposed between each adjacent thin film layer. The use of the intermediate layer results in the reduction of eddy current losses and film stress thereby improving the recording characteristics of the magnetic head.
