To provide a haptic pen and a haptic control waveform generation method that can suppress an increase in the power consumption necessary for operating a haptic element and that can realize an increase in the continuous operation time. A haptic pen includes a linear resonant actuator (LRA) motor that operates according to a reproduced waveform. The reproduced waveform includes a resonant frequency period including a waveform of a sine wave vibrating at a resonant frequency of the LRA motor and a period including a waveform vibrating at one or more frequencies different from the resonant frequency of the LRA motor.

Haptic pen and haptic control waveform generation method

An electronic pen includes a tubular casing; a vibration transmitting member disposed within a hollow portion of the tubular casing and capable of transmitting vibration occurring in the vibration transmitting member to the tubular casing; a vibrator disposed on the vibration transmitting member; a pulse generator configured to generate a pulse signal which drives the vibrator; and a power supply circuit to power the pulse generator. The vibrator includes a plurality of electrode pins planted on the vibration transmitting member, and one or more wires formed of a shape memory alloy and extending between two electrode pins among the plurality of electrode pins. The one or more wires when supplied with the pulse signal from the pulse generator through the electrode pins expand and contract to thereby vibrate. Vibration of the one or more wires is transmitted to the tubular casing via the electrode pins and the vibration transmitting member.

Electronic pen

Disclosed herein is a method executed by a device that is configured to be able to detect a pointed position of a stylus on an operation plane being superimposed on a displaying part. The method includes receiving feedback information relating to a display position of a predetermined pattern on the displaying part from a host processor, updating at least some of plural position calibration values stored in a correction table that stores therein the position calibration value for each of plural positions arranged on the operation plane, on a basis of the received feedback information, detecting a tentative pointed position of the stylus, reading the position calibration value that corresponds to the tentative pointed position from the correction table and deriving an output position by correcting the tentative pointed position on a basis of the position calibration value, and reporting the output position to the host processor.

Method for correcting gap between pen coordinate and display position of pointer

A controller of an in-cell type liquid crystal display device is provided. The controller controls first and second electrodes that intersect each other, supplies a pixel driving voltage to the first electrodes during a pixel driving period, and detects a stylus position using the first and second electrodes during a stylus detection period different from the pixel driving period. The controller transmits, using the second electrodes, a command requesting a transmission of a downlink signal to the stylus. The controller detects, using the first and second electrodes, the downlink signal transmitted from the stylus in response to the command, and detects the stylus position based on the detected downlink signal.

Stylus and controller

A stylus usable with non-in-cell type and in-cell type electronic apparatuses is provided. A stylus, in operation, transmits pen pressure data P to an electronic apparatus. The stylus includes a stylus electrode and a signal processing circuit. The stylus electrode forms a coupling capacitance with a sensor electrode of the electronic apparatus. The signal processing circuit detects an uplink signal US using the stylus electrode, extracts a command from the detected uplink signal US, determines, based on the extracted command, in which mode to operate between a first mode in which the data is transmitted using M (M&#x2265;1) first periods and a second mode in which the data is transmitted using N (N&#x3e;M) second periods, and repeatedly transmits the data in accordance with the determined mode.
