A printing apparatus and a printing processing method are provided in which content of print information is discriminated. A variable is initialized if the result of discrimination indicates the start of a printing job, and the variable is counted up of the result of discrimination indicates start of the next page. In a case where trouble such as jamming occurs during processing of this print information, at which page from the start of printing this trouble occurred is calculated from the variable, and the page number obtained is outputted upon being incorporated in information indicative of the fact that trouble has occurred. As a result, it is possible to output information indicating at which page, from the start of a printing job, trouble such as jamming occurred.

An output apparatus such as a laser beam printer comprises: a storage medium to store a control code which is peculiar to a control program; a judging circuit to judge whether the peculiar code is included in input data or not; and a deciding circuit to decide that the control program having the peculiar code is made correspond to the input data. The control program comprises control codes. The input data includes the peculiar control code and character code. When an amount of input data is less than an amount of data which is needed to perform the judgment, the deciding means decides that a predetermined control program is made correspond to the input data.

Output apparatus with selection of externally stored control programs

To control an information processing system in which a host unit is connected by radio communication to a slave unit, the host unit transmits data and a selected one of plural carrier waves both containing ID information to select a specific information process. The slave unit recognizes the ID information which corresponds to the frequency of the selected carrier wave and performs its operation accordingly. A difference in frequencies of the carrier waves may be used as a type of ID information.
