A power control ECU controls electric power and engine power of a hybrid vehicle. The power control ECU includes a request driving force calculating portion that calculates a request driving force calculated in accordance with an accelerator operation amount, a travel driving force calculating portion that calculates a travel driving force as a value that belatedly follows the request driving force, and a dashpot control processing portion. The dashpot control processing portion sets a value of the request driving force as a value of a final request driving force used to calculate request engine power when a difference of the request driving force with respect to the travel driving force is less than a predetermined positive value, and sets a value that belatedly follows the request driving force when the difference is greater than or equal to the predetermined positive value.

A hybrid vehicle includes an engine, a first motor, a planetary gear mechanism, a second motor, a battery, and an electronic control unit. When a brake is turned on during travel of a hybrid vehicle, a required braking force required for a drive shaft is set based on a brake depression amount, a base rotation speed of an engine is set based on the required braking force, a shift stage is set based on the base rotation speed and a vehicle speed, a target rotation speed of the engine is set based on the shift stage and the vehicle speed, and the engine, the first motor, and the second motor are controlled such that the engine operates at the target rotation speed and the required braking force acts on the drive shaft.

When a kickdown switch is turned off, a target rotation speed of an engine is set on the basis of a vehicle speed and a gear and the engine, the first motor, and the second motor are controlled such that the smaller driving force of an upper-limit driving force based on the target rotation speed and a required driving force is output to a drive shaft and the engine rotates at the target rotation speed. On the other hand, when the kickdown switch is turned on, the target rotation speed is set to be higher than that when the kickdown switch is turned off on the basis of the vehicle speed and the gear and the engine, the first motor, and the second motor are controlled such that the required driving force is output to the drive shaft and the engine rotates at the target rotation speed.

A hybrid vehicle includes an electronic control unit configured to: set a target rotation speed of an engine based on a vehicle speed and a shift position; set a driving force when an upper-limit power is output to a drive shaft as an upper-limit driving force; set a target engine power such that the smaller of the upper-limit driving force and the required driving force is output to the drive shaft; and control the engine, the first motor, and the second motor such that the engine to rotate at the target rotation speed and to output the target power. At this time, the upper-limit power is set to be lower when a coolant temperature of the engine is low than when the coolant temperature is high.

A drivability target engine speed is set based on a shift stage based on an accelerator opening level and a vehicle speed and the vehicle speed, and a base driving force is set based on an accelerator required driving force and the drivability target engine speed. When an elapsed time after an accelerator depression amount increases is less than a threshold value, a correction driving force is set based on an increase in accelerator depression amount and an engine, a first motor, and a second motor are controlled such that an effective driving force obtained by adding the correction driving force to the base driving force is output to a drive shaft for a hybrid vehicle to travel.

The start system related to the present invention is for an internal combustion engine of a hybrid vehicle. The hybrid vehicle is configured to use at least one of a differential mechanism and a transmission gear mechanism to temporarily change an engine speed in starting of the internal combustion engine. The start system includes an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is configured to determine a duration for which the engine speed needs to be changed in starting of the internal combustion engine. The electronic control unit is configured to determine a degree of change in the engine speed in starting of the internal combustion engine. The electronic control unit is configured to determine whether the engine speed needs to be changed by changing the gear position of the transmission gear mechanism based on the degree and the duration.

Start system and start control method for internal combustion engine of hybrid vehicle

A control device of a hybrid vehicle includes an electric motor outputting a running torque at the time of motor running and a starting torque at engine start, in a state of the motor running using even the starting torque, the control device being configured to give a notification of the state to a driver when a charging capacity is smaller than a first predetermined value, and to start an engine when the charging capacity is smaller than a second predetermined value which is smaller than the first predetermined value.

Then, the electronic control unit compares accelerator requested drive power with the upper limit drive power, sets target engine power such that lower one of the accelerator requested drive power and the upper limit drive power is output to the driveshaft, and controls an engine, a first motor, and a second motor such that the target engine power is output from the engine. In this way, a driver can receive further favorable drive feeling.
