An object is to make it possible to determine and output an accurate current position reliably in a short time and at a low cost, even in environments where signals from positioning satellites are complicatedly affected by structures, geographical features, etc. Therefore, the present invention provides a position detection device comprising: a receiving unit receiving signals from a positioning satellite, and calculating a pseudo range to the positioning satellite based on the signals, and a positioning unit calculating an initial position based on the pseudo range calculated by the receiving unit, calculating the pseudo range to the positioning satellite at plural positions around the initial position using a three-dimensional map data and a ray-tracing method, selecting candidate positions from the plural positions based on the pseudo range, and deciding a current position based on the candidate positions within such a short distance from the initial position that predetermined conditions are satisfied.

To track moving objects in a smaller number of temporarily stored time-series pictures, regarding N consecutive pictures (N&#x2267;2) within the time-series pictures, a method comprises the steps of: (a) by assigning the same ID to adjacent blocks if the absolute value of the difference between motion vectors of the blocks are less than a predetermined value, assigning different IDs to moving objects overlapping in a picture; (b) judging whether or not a first object of a first block group assigned a first ID and a second object of a second block group assigned a second ID are in contact with each other in each of the N consecutive pictures, and further each correlation between the first objects of temporally adjacent pictures in the N consecutive pictures is more than or equal to a predetermined value; and (c) tracking the first and second objects backward in time after the judgment at step (b) is positive.

By narrow region communication between a gate side communication apparatus (G-COM) and a mobile unit side communication apparatus (M-COM) passing through an on-road real gate at an interconnection, the G-COM assigns a real identification code (R-ID) IDincluding an intersection number to the M-COM after receiving a R-ID IDhaving been assigned from the M-COM, while time series pictures of the intersection including all real gates are taken by a camerainstalled to assign a virtual identification code (V-ID) to a mobile unit passing through a slit, corresponding to a real gate, in pictures by processing them. In response to the assignment of the R-ID, the R-ID is brought into correspondence with the V-ID. The mobile unit is tracked and when an anomalous behavior thereof is detected in pictures, warning information is transmitted to the M-COM using the corresponding R-ID. By gathering sets of IDand IDassociated with each other in a plurality of intersections, a mobile unit having displayed an anomalous behavior is tracked.

An information processing device includes a central processing unit, a cache memory unit and first and second decision circuits. The first decision circuit identifies one of partitioned address areas to be accessed before the central processing unit accesses the cache memory unit. A practical Galois field arithmetic processor capable of high-speed operation with a simple configuration is disclosed. The processor comprises an instruction decoder, an arithmetic unit including a Galois field vector adder, a Galois field vector multiplier and a Galois exponent adder-subtractor for executing the Galois field arithmetic operation on first and second operands. In the case where the arithmetic unit includes at least a Galois field vector adder and a Galois field vector multiplier, an exponent-vector conversion circuit is provided for converting the second operand from an exponential expression into a vectorial expression, and an instruction is provided for performing the Galois field operation on the vectorially expressed first operand and the exponentially expressed second operand. With this configuration, in the case where the vectorially expressed data is input as the first operand and the exponentially expressed data is input as the second operand, the second operand is converted into a vectorial expression by the conversion circuit, after which the arithmetic operation is performed in the Galois field vector adder or the Galois vector multiplier.

An instruction control mechanism, for processors, capable of decoding a register instruction and an immediate instruction with a simple configuration, is disclosed. The instruction control mechanism decodes and executes an instruction set including an instruction code having an instruction field, a first field containing the description of the name of the register to be processed and a second field containing the description of the name of another register or an immediate address. A register instruction code containing the description of another register to be processed in the second field has an instruction field of a specific value, and contains the description of a second instruction field in the portion other than the second field containing another register to be processed. An immediate instruction code containing the description of an immediate address in the second field has an instruction field containing the description of other than the specific value. At least part of the immediate instruction code and at least part of an immediate-like register instruction code for performing the same processing except that the immediate address and another register to be processed are used, are assigned the same value in the first instruction field and the second instruction field.
