A projector includes a light source lamp, a lighting control unit adapted to supply a lamp electric power to turn on the light source lamp, a cooling unit adapted to send a cooling fluid to cool the light source lamp, and a start control unit adapted to, from the start of turn-on of the light source lamp until a predetermined period elapses, adjust at least one of the length of the predetermined period and a limited flow rate, which is the flow rate of the cooling fluid per unit time sent from the cooling unit within the predetermined period, on the basis of an operation history of the light source lamp to control the operation of the cooling unit.

Projector

A projector includes a light source lamp, a cooling device adapted to feed a cooling fluid to the light source lamp to thereby cool the light source lamp, a lighting control section adapted to supply the light source lamp with the lamp electric power having either one of a first electric power value and a second electric power value higher than the first electric power value to thereby light the light source lamp, and a cooling control section adapted to control the cooling device, and the cooling control section controls the cooling device so that the cooling fluid at a flow rate lower than a set flow rate set in accordance with the second electric power value is fed to the light source lamp during a predetermined period after the lamp electric power is switched from the first electric power value to the second electric power value.

A projector that performs light control by varying power level of a light source in response to a video signal, includes a cooling fan that cools the light source, and a control device that averages samples of the power level of the light source based on the video signal or a brightness level of the video signal acquired with respect to each unit time and performs feedback control of a rotational speed of the cooling fan based on the average value, wherein the control device varies the number of samples and calculates the average value between the cases where the power level or the brightness level is rising and falling.

A projector comprising: a discharge lamp; a discharge lamp drive unit that drives the discharge lamp by supplying drive power to the discharge lamp; and a control unit that has a first mode and a second mode as operation modes and controls the discharge lamp drive unit according to the operation modes, wherein the control unit controls the discharge lamp drive unit to supply first power as the drive power to the discharge lamp when the operation mode is the first mode, and controls the discharge lamp drive unit to supply the drive power to the discharge lamp while changing the drive power in a range equal to or less than second power smaller than the first power and equal to or more than third power smaller than the second power when the operation mode is the second mode.

Projector with a plurality of drive power modes

A projector includes: a discharge lamp; a discharge lamp drive section which supplies an electric power to the discharge lamp; and a control section which controls the discharge lamp drive section, wherein a period interposed between the switching timings which are temporally adjacent to each other starts in a first period and ends in a second period, wherein the control section controls, on the basis of a correlation pattern which indicates the correlation between a first electric power and a second electric power, the discharge lamp drive section to supply the first electric power to the discharge lamp in the first period and to supply the second electric power to the discharge lamp in the second period, and wherein the correlation pattern includes a pattern in which as the second electric power is decreased, the ratio of the first electric power to the second electric power is increased.
