An electrode for electrolysis comprises a conductive substrate which is coated with a combination of palladium oxide and platinum metal or a combination of palladium oxide and Pt-Pd alloy which comprises 99 to 5 mole % of palladium component as Pd and 1 to 95 mole % of platinum component as Pt and at least 25 wt. % of palladium component being in a form of palladium oxide.

Electrode for electrolysis and manufacture thereof

An insoluble electrode for electrolysis is prepared by coating a solution or slurry comprising palladium oxide and a platinum compound which can be thermally decomposed to form platinum metal, and optionally another salt or oxide, on a conductive substrate and drying it and baking it at elevated temperature.

Process for preparing insoluble electrode

An insoluble electrode for electrolysis which comprises repeatedly coating and baking a slurry of palladium oxide containing a platinum compound which can be thermally decomposed to form platinum metal, optionally the other metal salt or oxide in a solvent and a solution of a platinum compound which can be thermally decomposed to form platinum metal in a solvent on a conductive substrate in optional order at two or more times.

An electrode for use in electric prevention for corrosion, the electrode comprising a sintered body of a mixture of iron oxide of 90 to 55 mol % in terms of Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3 and a metal oxide of 10 to 45 mol % in terms of MO (M is at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Mn, Ni, Co, Cu and Zn), and a process of electric prevention for corrosion by using said electrode as an anode.

Cathodic protection

An electrode comprises a conductive substrate which is coated with 7 to 50 mole % of a total combination of palladium oxide and ruthenium oxide and 93 to 50 mole % of tin oxide as the main components, wherein less than 40 mole % of said tin oxide is substituted with titanium oxide.
