A battery element () includes a positive electrode and a negative electrode stacked via a separator. A collector portion () is formed by collectively bonding each of positive electrode plates and negative electrode plates which extend outward from this stacked region. Laminated films () are obtained by laminating a thermally-fusible resin layer and a metal layer, and by sealing the battery element () and electrolyte by thermally fusing sealing portion () at a peripheral edge. A tab () is connected to collector portion () and extends outward from the laminated films (). An object is to narrow the width a frame part provided to a display device. The display device of the present invention comprises: a main substrate having display pixels being arranged in matrix, a scanning line electrode array, a signal line electrode array, and a frame part formed in an edge of the substrate along the scanning line electrode array and the signal line electrode array; a scanning line driving element mounted to the frame part along the scanning line electrode array; a signal line driving element mounted to the frame part along the signal line electrode array; and a flexible flat cable for supplying a signal and a power to the driving circuits of the scanning line driving element and the signal line driving element. The width of the frame part to which the signal line driving element is mounted is approximate to the width of the signal line driving element, and the width of the frame part to which the scanning line driving element is mounted is approximate to the width of the scanning line driving element. The length of at least the scanning line driving element or the signal line driving element is set shorter than the respective frame part so as to keep a space for mounting the flexible flat cable.

With above arrangement, there can be provided an actuator that can make both a high velocity movement of a large stroke and a micro movement of a pinpoint accuracy.

A magnetic disk drive is provided, which decreases the profile or height of the drive itself without reliability degradation, realizing a low-profile and large-capacity magnetic disk drive. The drive comprises: (a) a rotatable magnetic disk around an axis; (b) a spindle motor for rotating the disk; (c) a magnetic head for writing information into the disk and for reading information from the disk; (d) an actuator for positioning the head at a desired position over the disk; (e) a disk enclosure for enclosing the disk, the motor, the head, and the actuator; (f) a circuit board fixed to the enclosure; the board having necessary circuits and necessary electronic elements for controlling operation of the drive; the board having a projecting part located outside a footprint of the enclosure; at least part of the elements being mounted on the projecting part. Preferably, the components mounted on the projecting part of the enclosure are higher than the components mounted on the part of the board that is overlapped with the enclosure. An additional circuit board may be provided over the projecting part of the enclosure.

Low-profile magnetic disk drive

A magnetic disk drive unit can is designed for reducing weight, improving impact resistance, improving removing ability, and achieving easiness of assembling and lower a cost in a magnetic disk drive unit. The magnetic disk drive unit includes a spindle motor mounting a magnetic disk, a carriage mounting a magnetic head for recording and reproduction, a park mechanism for placing the magnetic head retracted from the magnetic disk at stand-by state where recording and reproducing are not performed, a single rigid frame mounting the spindle motor, the carriage and the park mechanism thereon for forming an assembly, and a casing housing and fixing the assembly, the casing being formed of an elastically deformable material.

Magnetic disk drive unit and production method therefor

A magnetic disk drive is constructed by at least one magnetic disk, a spindle motor, an actuator containing a magnetic head, a flexible printed-circuit board and a package. Herein, mechanical parts are basically installed in a disk enclosure, while electronic parts are mounted on the package. A base of the magnetic disk drive is extended in both sides of the disk enclosure to provide multipurpose spaces, which are equipped with a shockabsorber mechanism for improvement of impact resistance and/or a heat-radiation mechanism for improvement of heat radiation. Herein, the package is stored in the multipurpose space, which is covered with a back cover being attached to the base of the magnetic disk drive. Thus, it is possible to reduce an overall thickness of the magnetic disk drive; it is possible to improve portability of the magnetic disk drive; and it is possible to prevent the electronic components from being damaged or subjected to electrostatic destruction. In addition, side rails are formed on exterior walls of the multipurpose spaces of the base, by which the magnetic disk drive is guided when being installed in a main device such as a personal computer and a server. Thus, it is possible to ease installation and extraction of the magnetic disk drive in the main device. Further, a rubber connector is provided for the package and is connected with a terminal of the main device with ease.
