In an ink jet recording sheet including a substrate sheet having a base paper sheet and at least a front polyolefin laminate layer formed on at least a front surface of the base paper sheet, and an ink receiving layer formed on the front polyolefin laminate layer, the surface of the front polyolefin laminate layer has a center-line mean roughness (Ra) of 0.1 to 10 &mgr;m, determined in accordance with JIS B 0601-1982, the ink receiving layer contains a mixture of hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose with polyvinyl pyrrolidone in a mixing weight ratio of 100:10 to 100:150 and has a 75&deg; specular gloss of 30% or more determined in accordance with JIS P 8142-1993.

Ink jet recording sheet

An ink jet recording material having excellent smoothness and gloss and capable of recording thereon ink images having high color density clarity, water resistance and sharpness comparative to the silver salt photographic images has a recording stratum formed on a substrate and comprising a single ink receiving layer or a plurality of ink receiving layers superposed on each other and containing a pigment and a binder, at least one ink receiving layer containing fine particles of at least one pigment selected from silica, aluminosilicate, and &agr;-, &thgr;-, &dgr;- and &ggr;-aluminas and having an average particle size of 1 &mgr;m or less and optionally a light resistance-enhancing agent for images including at least one of phenolic compounds, boric acid, borate salts and cyclodextrin compounds.

Ink jet recording material

An ink jet recording material having excellent gloss and capable of recording thereon clear ink images having a high color density includes a multi-layered ink fixing layer, formed on a substrate material and composed of an outermost ink fixing layer, and one or more intermediate ink fixing layers superposed on each other, and each includes a binder and a pigment selected from silica, aluminosilicate, alumina and zeolite, the pigment in each ink fixing layer being in the form of fine secondary particles having an average secondary particles size of 1 &mgr;m or less and each secondary particle is composed of a plurality of primary particles agglomerated with each other, and the outermost ink fixing layer being one formed by a cast-coating procedure using a specular casting surface.

Ink jet recording material and process for producing same

An ink jet recording material having high gloss, a good ink-absorbing property, and high color density of the ink image includes at least one underrecording layer and at least one upper recording layer formed on a support and each containing fine pigment particles having an average primary particle size of 3 to 40 nm and an average secondary particle size of 10 to 400 nm, the pigment particles in the underrecording layer having a larger primary particle size than those in the upperrecording layer.

An ink jet recording material having an excellent ink absorbing property and capable of recording ink images with superior gloss, water resistance and light resistance has an outermost ink receiving layer formed on a support and containing (1) fine pigment particles selected from amorphous silica secondary particles and alumina silicate secondary particles which have an average secondary particle size of 10 to 300 nm and in each of which a plurality of primary particles having an average primary particle size of 3 to 40 nm are agglomerated with each other, (2) an ultraviolet ray absorber and, optionally, (3) an antioxidant.

An ink jet recording sheet having excellent gloss and ink absorption and capable of recording clear ink images with a high color density includes a substrate sheet impregnated or coated with a cationic compound; an ink-receiving layer formed on the cationic compound-applied substrate sheet and containing a pigment and a binder and a gloss layer formed on the ink receiving layer and containing a polymer resin produced from ethylenically unsaturated monomers.

An ink jet recording material having substantially no tackiness and capable of receiving thereon ink images having high resistance to cracking and blotting has an ink receiving layer formed on a support and including (A) hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose having a 2% aqueous solution viscosity of 200 cP at 20&deg; C., and optionally (B) a N-vinyl pyrrolidon polymer and (C) a cationic resin.

Ink jet recording material process for producing the same and ink jet recording method using the same

An ink jet recording sheet having excellent gloss and ink jet recording ability and exhibiting a high resistance to damage (gear or spur marks) of the sheet surface due to contact with sheet-conveying rollers located in a sheet-conveying section of an ink jet printer, includes at least one ink receiving layer formed on a support paper sheet and has a recording surface gloss of 30% or more determined at 75 degree angle in accordance with JIS Z 8741; the support paper sheet has an internal fiber-bonding strength of 100&times;10,ft-lb or more, determined in accordance with TAPPI UM 403; and optionally a gloss layer containing a resin is formed on the ink receiving layer.

An ink jet recording sheet having a high gloss and ink absorbing property and capable of recording clear ink images having a high and uniform color density, includes a cast-coated ink-receiving layer formed on a substrate sheet and containing fine silica particles with an average primary particle size of 3 to 40 nm and an average secondary particle size of 10 to 400 nm and a binder.
