In the light amount correction in the main scanning direction, sets of correction values of black and cyan for which the reflection frequency of optical elements are equal to an even number of times are made common to each other (a correction value set&#x2014;KC), and sets of correction values of magenta and yellow for which the reflection frequency of optical elements are equal to an odd number of times are made common to each other (a correction value set&#x2014;MY), whereby sets of correction values stored in a correction value storage portion in a correction value setting portion are reduced to two sets. Furthermore, in connection with this, the number of DA converters is reduced to two DA converters of a DA converter&#x2014;K, C and a DA converter&#x2014;M, Y.

In an image forming apparatus of a type wherein toner is replenished to a developing unit by turning or rotating a toner bottle, a phenomenon that a toner replenishment amount per turn of the bottle (replenishing rate) is decreased as the toner remaining quantity in the bottle is decreased, is utilized to provide a method and an apparatus for easily and reliably determining a toner near empty state when a number of the turns measured by counting a number of detection of an object to be sensed formed on an outer surface of the toner bottle.

An image forming apparatus includes, a first speed decision unit which decides the driving speed of a drive source of a unit for printing, a magnification adjustment unit which adjusts the magnification of image information by changing the speed of the first speed decision unit, a second speed decision unit which decides the driving speed of a drive source of a carry unit to carry a printing medium, and a speed change interlock unit which changes the speed of the second speed decision unit, when the speed of the first speed decision unit is changed by the magnification adjustment unit.

Image forming apparatus and method for adjusting magnification of image information

A sheet feeding unit is provided with a feeding path, on which a cut sheet having a predetermined size is fed. A sheet edge sensor has sensor elements separately arranged at portions, at which the edge of the cut sheet can be detected, along a direction perpendicular to the feeding direction of the cut sheet. An image forming unit forms a predetermined image on the cut sheet. An image formation correcting unit corrects image formation according to lateral misalignment of the cut sheet based on a detection result transmitted from the sheet edge sensor when a predetermined image is formed on the cut sheet.
