A can opener has a cutter blade mounted with a body and a traction wheel mounted with the body on or adjacent the cutter blade. One of the cutter blade or traction wheel is movable with respect to the other between an inoperative position and an operative position. In the inoperative position the traction wheel and the cutter blade are spaced apart so that a rim of a can to be opened may be located between the traction wheel and the cutter blade. In the operative position the traction wheel and the cutter blade engage a can for opening the can. The can opener has an operating element that is operable by a user of the can opener for turning the traction wheel. Operation of the operating element also moves the cutter blade and traction wheel from the inoperative position to the operative position.

Single-handled can opener with automatic can engagement

A food processing apparatus has a housing, an internal basket and a drive mechanism on the housing for rotating the basket to process food (e.g., spinning water from food) in the housing. The drive mechanism has an operating lever, a gearwheel arranged to be rotated by the lever and the basket for rotating the basket, and a centrifugal clutch located between the lever and the gearwheel for transmitting a rotational drive force from the lever to the gearwheel. A brake mechanism on the housing has a braking member for frictional engagement with the gearwheel to stop rotation of the basket. The drive mechanism may rotate the basket selectively in opposite directions.

Food processing apparatus

A food processing apparatus has a housing, a basket supported in the housing for rotation about an axis of rotation, and a drive mechanism supported by the housing for rotating the basket to process food in the housing, for example, spinning off water from the food. The drive mechanism has a manual operating lever, a gearwheel rotated by the lever and coupled to the basket for rotating the basket, and a centrifugal clutch between the lever and the gearwheel for transmitting a rotational drive force from the lever to the gearwheel. The food processing apparatus includes a brake mechanism supported by the housing for braking rotation of the basket, the brake mechanism having a braking member frictionally engageable with the gearwheel to stop rotation of the basket.

A can opener has first and second operating elements pivotal with respect to one another. The first operating element has a rotatable traction wheel and the second operating element has a cutting assembly. The operating elements pivot such that traction wheel and cutter assembly are moveable between an inoperative position and an operative position. In the inoperative position, the traction wheel and cutter assembly are spaced from one another so that the rim of the can to be opened is locatable between the traction wheel and cutter assembly. In the operative position, the traction wheel and the cutter assembly are in close proximity and engagable with the can to effect opening of the can. The cutter assembly has an axle engaged with the second operating element at a first end and has a thread at a second end. A rotatable circular cutting blade is located on the axle between the first and second ends and is held in place by a nut engaged with the thread. A decorative cover covers the nut.

Can opener

A multi-purpose opener for removing a closure from a variety of containers has a sleeve having a first end with an opening for receiving a screw cap within the sleeve. The sleeve has an internal wall with one or more projections for engaging the screw cap, and a second end with a slot having a blade for engaging a bottle cap. A handle is integral with the sleeve and extends radically there from. The distal end of the handle has a taper for engaging under the lift tab of drink can. A claw for engaging a ring pull tab of a can is integral with the sleeve and extends tangentially from the sleeve diametrically opposite the handle.

Multi-purpose opener

A can opener includes a body with a handle, a traction wheel rotatably mounted on the body, an operating element for turning the traction wheel, and a cutter. The cutter is moveable between an inoperative position for receiving a rim of a can between the traction wheel and cutter, and an operative position for engaging said rim of the can between the traction wheel and cutter. A cam with a lobe engages the cutter and moves it between the inoperative and operative positions. The cam is operated by a lever.

A can opener includes a pair of handles, a traction wheel, and a cutter blade for removing a lid of a can. An operating knob is supported at one side of the can opener and rotates about an axis transverse to a central axis of a can being opened. The knob is coupled by step-down gearing to the traction wheel. For a left-handed user, the knob is mounted on the opposite side of the can opener.
